Garry "Beast Mode" Gates opened with a raise to 2,600 and Jonathan Little flat-called. A third player reraised to 9,500 before action moved back to Gates. He went into full-on beast mode and move all in for approximately 34,000. Little folded and then the three bettor asked for a count. Once he received one, the player made the call with . Gates held two nines.
The flop produced a nine and gave Gates a set. He was well in the lead at that point and held up to double to over 70,000.
The field has completed two levels of play and Sorel Mizzi has still not shown up to play.
World Series of Poker Media Director Nolan Dalla just addressed the field shortly after the money bubble burst. Howard "Tahoe" Andrew just logged another cash for his lifetime record and first this year. Andrew holds the distinction of having played the WSOP more consecutive years than anyone else. He started playing at the WSOP in 1975 and this is his 36th year of attending and playing in the WSOP. He won two bracelets in 1976.
We caught up with the action on a flop and four players checked to see a turn, including Teresa Duck from middle position and Yevgeniy Timoshenko from the cutoff.
The turn came a and action checked around to Timoshenko, who fired 5,600. Everyone folded around to Duck, who flatted.
The completed the board and Duck checked to Timoshenko, who cut out a bet to 16,400 but then suddenly rapped the table - indicating a check - before sliding his bet into the middle.
Duck showed and it was good, as Timoshenko mucked.
Timoshenko is still sitting healthy with 80,000.
We didn't catch the hand that put us into the money, but Heinz Pius, the player who scored the knockout, was kind enough to give us the play by play. Utt raised in middle position, and Pius called in the big blind. The flop came out , and Pius checked. Utt bet 3,500, and Pius raised to 9,500. Utt called, and the turn came a . At that point the two players got the moeny all in, with Pius having Utt easily covered.
Utt:
Pius:
Pius would need a spade on the river to score the knockout, and he got just that, as it came the . Utt was sent to the rail short of the money, and Pius is now sitting on a monster stack of around 200,000

We've got a bustout on the first hand of hand for hand play. We're tracking down the player and hand.
We are on the exact money bubble now, meaning we are player hand for hand. Once a table is done with their hand, the dealer will stand up, and wait for everyone to finish. We are one elimination from the money.
Everyone folded over to Garry "Beast Mode" Gates on the button. Gates put in a raise to 3,000 and his only customer was the player acting out of the big blind. The two players (who battled on the hand before right before this one) took the monotone flop of . The big blind checked and Gates checked.
The turn was the to pair the board. After the big blind checked, Gates checked behind again and the dealer placed the out on the river. The big blind led with a bet of 4,000. "Call," said Gates about two or three seconds after the bet was placed. The big blind tabled the for jacks and sixes. Gates turned over the for jacks and eights. Gates' hand was the winning one and he scooped the pot.
