Livello 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We didn't catch the hand, but we saw Gavin Smith make his way to the exit, while another player at the table was left stacking up his chips. Smith has been ousted about 30 minutes before dinner break.

Akenhead Looking Strong

Livello 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

James Akenhead came into today as one of the chip leaders, and after a slow start to the day he has come storming back, recently collecting a knockout to boost his chip count to double the average in the room.

Santiago Nadal moved all in under the gun for around 20,000, and action folded around to Akenhead, who got the count and then made the call. The rest of the table folded, and the players tabled their cards.

Akenhead: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Nadal: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

As we have seen several times already today, this good old fashioned race turned into a beatdown on the flop, as it came {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, giving Akenhead a set and the big lead. Nadal would need runner runner, but he wouldn't get it, as it came {3-Clubs} and {4-Diamonds}. Nadal was sent to the rail, and the rest of Akenhead's table mates can not be happy that he is once again collecting chips.

Smith With a Fantastic Lay Down

Livello 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We caught the action on the river of a {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board in a pot that had already reach what appeared to be no less than 70,000 chips. PokerStars Team Pro Gualter Salles was first to act and he moved all in for 51,100. Gavin Smith appeared pained by the decision and eventually folded {j-}{8-} face up. Salles tabled {3-}{3-} for a full house and Smith maintains a healthy stack of 88,000 with that great fold.

The Proverbial Two Birds

Livello 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Peter Feldman was eliminated at the tail end of the last level, and we saw it all go down.

Matthias Holz opened to 3,400 under the gun, and Kevin Eyster three-bet to 8,000 straight. In middle position, Peter Feldman shoved all in for 22,100 on a four-bet. Holz re-shoved for 32,000, and Eyster made the call with a chance to eliminate both men.

Showdown
Holz: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Eyster: {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}
Feldman: {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts}, and that gives the pot to Eyster's two jacks. With it comes the eliminations of both Feldman and Holz, and it moves Eyster up to about 110,000.

Tony Hachem Eliminated

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We didn't see the hand, but we just peeked over to Team Pokerstars Pro Tony Hachem's table, and saw him getting up, shaking hands with a few players, then making his exit. He has been eliminated from the tournament.

Adelstein Coolers Lodden For Chip Lead

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Flopping a set is usually a poker player's dream, but in some rare instances, flopping a set can get you into a world of trouble. Unfortunately for Team Pokerstars Pro Johnny Lodden, he just fell victim to the dreaded set over set mega-cooler, and as a result, Garrett Adelstein is you new chip leader.

When we came to the table, Lodden and Adelstein were already in the middle of a raising war on a flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Adelstein had a bet of 38,000 out there, but Lodden had put out a raise of 65,000 total. Action was on Adelstein, who counted out a reraise to 98,200, representing most of his stack. Lodden tanked for about 30 seconds, and though it seemed like he knew the cooler spot that he was in, he went all in. Adelstein instantly called, and Lodden's fears became true.

Adelstein: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Lodden: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Lodden would need to catch the case seven to win the monster pot, but he couldn't do it on the turn, {10-Diamonds}, or the river, {j-Clubs}. Adelstein counted out his chips and it ended up being 140,100 total. Despite the hit, Lodden still has a healthy 80,000, which is just below the average stack in the room.
