Bubble Fast Approaching

Livello 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Just like that, we are already down to 476 players (468 are paid), and with cries of "SEAT OPEN" still ringing throughout the Amazon, we should be on the money bubble and see it burst very very soon. Stay tuned

Lunkin' Good

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Vitaly Lunkin, who had dropped a few chips early on this event, has just managed to win a decent pot, when his {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} won over {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} on a {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Hearts} board. We presume the money went in on the flop.

The Russian has 13,000 now.

Guillen Gaining

At table 331, a player went all in for his last 4,200 and Team PokerStars Pro (Mexico) Angel Guillen re-shoved to incite folds from the rest of the table.

Guillen had his opponent crushed with {q-Spades}{k-Spades} vs. {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} with no help for is opponent and Guillen moves up to 18,100. He is still short at the moment, but any progress is good progress

Volpe Not Slowing Down

We came into a hand when Paul Volpe put his last opponent to act all in preflop for 4,000. The player called and showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} to the {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} of Volpe. The board came down {q-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and the pair of tens was enough to give Volpe the victory. He hasn't gained much, but he's hit the 130,000 mark to start the day and is still definitely the chip leader.

Happy 4th of July!

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

As things start to warm up around here, check out the following update to put yourself in the loop of all the happenings around the Rio, including hundreds of tables dedicated to satellite action today. So if you have no plans for Independence Day then get yourself down to the Rio and try to nab a Main Event seat!

"Quack Quack"

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

As this reporter was walking through the Amazon Room I was drawn by a sand that sounded something like a duck. Of course, with the tight security at the Rio, I knew this was surely not a duck but just the trademark noise of Paul "X22" Magriel.

Magriel had put a bet out on the turn and had two callers. The river came and the board read {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts} Magriel announced, "rainbow" which meant one of each color and in this case, a bet of 1,600. His opponent in the big blind almost instantly announced raise and put out 6,400. Magriel was silenced and very confused, trying to peer into the hooded sweatshirt of his young opponent and continually shaking his head. He eventually folded and said, "I have no idea what just happened there." Magriel still has plenty of chips with 34,000 which means he'll be making plenty of noise all day.

nanonoko Doubles Up

Unlike the $50,000 Poker Players Championship which is about to get underway across the room from us in Amazon Blue (Follow all the action here! https://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2011-world-series-of-poker/event-55-the-poker-player-s-championship/) where every table is full of the best players in the world, in an event like today's $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em, any table with more than one notable may be the toughest table in the room!

One such table exists that we have seen so far and that is Table 362 that has the likes of both Brandon Cantu and Team PokerStars Pro (Online) Randy 'nanonoko' Lew. We missed the action, but we just saw Lew double up with {10-}{10-} on a {4-}{4-}{4-}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts} board to 25,000. And, in the midst of writing this post, this reporter saw Brandon Cantu bust from afar, which means that table just got a little easier.
