Third Draw Saves Wilkinson

Livello 11

2-7 Triple Draw

Jennifer Harman raised from the hijack seat, Lamar Wilkinson reraised with the 11,400 he had left from the small blind, and both Jason Lester (big blind) and Harman called.

On the first draw, Wilkinson and Lester each drew two cards while Harman took one. Lester checked, Harman bet, and Lester called. On each of the next two draws, Wilkinson and Lester took one while Harman stood pat. Both times Lester check-called Harman's bet.

Harman showed {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Lester mucked his hand. But Wilkinson has also made a {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} on his last draw and thus survives with about 17,000. Meanwhile Harman has 225,000 and Lester 170,000.

Clemencon Chipping Up

2-7 Triple Draw

Marco Johnson raised with the button, Jesse Martin three-bet from the small blind, and Tristan Clemencon put in four bets from the big blind. Johnson got out of the way, and Martin called.

Both players drew one, and Martin check-called a bet from Clemencon.

On the second draw, Martin drew one again, and Clemencon patted. Martin check-called another bet.

Martin drew one last card, Clemencon patted, and Martin check-folded to Clemencon's final bet.

Clemencon started the day on the short stack, but is now above 100,000 chips.

Hansen Can't Move Makarov

Livello 11

Pot-Limit Omaha

It folded around to Alexey Makarov on the button who raised to 8,000, and only Gus Hansen called him from the small blind.

The flop came {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Hansen spread a stack of chips out before him and restacked them a few times -- as he tends to do -- then set out a bet of 12,200. Makarov called. The turn was the {6-Clubs}. Hansen again manipulated his chips a bit, restacked them, then bet 33,300. Makarov called once more.

The river brought the {5-Diamonds}. This time Hansen sat motionless. "Check?" he said, the tone of his voice turning upwards at the end of the syllable in an "are you still here?" kind of way. Makarov took the invitation to bet 38,000, and Hansen instantly mucked his hand.

Makarov moves up to 220,000, while Hansen now has 635,000.

No Checkered Flag for Racener

John Racener
John Racener

2-7 Triple Draw

Abe Mosseri started the hand by trying to raise from under the gun, but nobody heard him announce anything when he pushed chips forward and it was deemed a call. The action folded to Erick Lindgren who called in the small blind, and John Racener made it two bets in the big. Mosseri and Lindgren called.

All three players drew two on the first draw. Lindgren led out, and both Mosseri and Racener called.

On the second draw, Lindgren drew one, and Racener and Mosseri drew two. Lindgren led again, Racener moved all in for less than two bets (16,300), and only Lindgren called.

Lindgren drew one, and Racener patted. Lindgren opened {7-}{5-}{4-}{2-} and sweated his last card - a {3-}!

Racener flashed a {10-} before mucking, and hit the rail.

A Few for Hastings

Livello 11

Pot-Limit Omaha

Preflop action left three players, Bill Chen (big blind), Fabrice Soulier (under the gun), and Brian Hastings (middle position), to see a flop come {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. It checked to Hastings who bet 17,000, Chen folded, and Soulier called. The turn was the {2-Clubs}. Soulier checked again, Hastings bet 50,000 this time, and Soulier called.

The river brought the {9-Diamonds} and checks from both. Hastings turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for top two, and Soulier mucked. Hastings has 435,000 now, while Soulier drops to 190,000.

Zaichecking Out

Pot-Limit Omaha

When we reached the table, the flop had already fallen {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. David Oppenheim checked, Zaichenko put out a bet, and Johnny "World" Hennigan folded. Oppenheim put in a raise to 51,000, and Zaichenko called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs}, and Oppenheim fired 115,000. Zaichenko moved all in for around 250,000, and Oppenheim called.

Oppenheim: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Zaichenko: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Oppenheim had flopped top set to Zaichenko's bottom set, but the Russian added a flush draw on the turn. The river was another eight however - the {8-Hearts} to be exact - and Zaichenko was eliminated from the tournament.

Oppenheim is now our chip leader with around 740,000 chips.

Hellmuth Wins, Oppenheim Grins

Livello 11

Pot-Limit Omaha

Phil Hellmuth raised from under the gun to 10,500 and got two callers in David Oppenheim (middle position) and John Hennigan (big blind). The flop came {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Hennigan and Hellmuth both checked, and Oppenheim bet 19,000. Only Hellmuth called.

The turns was the {A-Clubs}, and both checked. The river brought the {5-Diamonds} and a bet of 36,400 from Hellmuth. Oppenheim raised to 90,000, and Hellmuth -- who didn't catch that there'd been a raise -- said "Aces." Then, "Oh, you raised? Call."

Hellmuth tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} for aces full of eights -- the near-nuts -- and Oppenheim laughed as he showed his {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{x-}{x-} for a lesser boat.

"Phil Hellmuth, everybody," said Oppenheim with a wide grin. "I hope this table never breaks," said leader Ben Lamb afterwards. "Be careful what you wish for" was Hellmuth's rejoinder.

Hellmuth is now at about 400,000, while Oppenheim has about 415,000.

Gusto

No-Limit Hold'em

David Benyamine opened to 8,500 on the button, Gus Hansen called out of tue big blind, and the flop fell {7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Hansen check-called 11,000 from Benyamine, and both players knuckled after the {2-Spades} turned.

Hansen led after the {6-Diamonds} completed the board, and Benyamine looked him up. Hansen opened up {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens, and Benyamine mucked.

Boat on Board

No-Limit Hold'em

Ronny Kaiser opened to 7,200 in the hijack seat, and Robert Mizrachi defended his big blind. The dealer fanned {3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and both players checked. The {a-Spades} paired the board on the turn, and Mizrachi check-called 6,500 from Kaiser.

The {3-Diamonds} on the river made a full house for both players, and Mizrachi led out for 15,000. Kaiser tank-folded, and Mizrachi won the pot.
