The Chew Chew Train

Three-way to the flop, the board was reading {K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and was checked to Andrew Lichtenberger in the cutoff who bet 800. The small blind folded but the hijack made the call to see the {4-Spades} turn before he checked to Lichtenberger, who fired out 1,625 this time.

The hijack called a second time to see the {2-Clubs} river and then led out for 2,900, Lichtenberger responded with a substantial raise to 17,400 and was rewarded with a call. "LuckyChewy" turned over {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for the nut straight and is already up to 50,000 as a result.

Racener Runs Into a Wall

We caught up with the action on a {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{Q-Clubs} board, where a player in early position led out for 375 after Racener checked from the small blind. Racener then check-raised to 1,025 and his opponent quickly called.

When the {9-Hearts} completed the board, Racener fired a 2,300 bet and his opponent didn't take long to push in a call. Racener looked hesitant to show and his opponent revealed {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for a pair of queens. Racener mucked and is down to 26,000.

2011 Bracelet Winners in Blue

We've spotted a couple of players in the blue section who have are looking to pick up their second gold bracelet of the summer.

Jake Cody took down the $25,000 No Limit Hold'em Heads-Up Championship and Ben Lamb who won the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship. Both these players will no doubt be a threat to their tablemates.

A Double Stack Already??

Bryan Colin cracking aces.
Bryan Colin cracking aces.

With the Main Event being such a grueling tournament, if you were told at the start of day one that you would end the day with double what you started, you'd probably take it. In fact, since we didn't even lose half the players who started Day 1a yesterday, you'd be well above average. How about if you could do it within the first 10 minutes of the day? Yeah, we'd take it too.

From atop the side of the featured table, we saw a player all in and getting up from his seat already, not more than three or four hands into the day. Bryan Colin had {k-}{k-} vs the {a-}{a-} of his opponent and the two got it all in preflop. Sure enough, Colin hit a {k-} on the flop and that was all she wrote for his opponent. Colin now has double with what he started with and he will have a big advantage over his table to begin his day one.

Smirnov Starts Well

With the board reading {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts} the player in the hijack checked and Mikhail Smirnov bet 1,125 from the cutoff. The hijack called and they saw the river bring the {a-Spades}. The hijack checked again and this time Smirnov tossed out a bet of 3,725. Apparently that bet was a bit too rich for the hijack who folded his hand.

Smirnov was up to 32,000 after the hand.
