JJ Liu Chipping Up Early

Livello 11 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

We arrived at the table in time to see two pots pushed in the direction of JJ Liu.

On the first pot, the board read {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Liu tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and was able to scoop a nice pot.

During the second hand, there was a raise from middle position and JJ Liu made the call along with the player in the cutoff and the player in the small blind. The flop fell {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and it checked around to Liu who bet out. The player in the cutoff put in a raise, causing the other two players in the hand to fold while Liu made the call. The {9-Spades} turned and Liu check-called the bet of her opponent. When the {Q-Clubs} rivered, the action went check-check and Liu tabled {A-}{9-} and her pair of nines was enough to scoop the pot and cause her opponent to slam his fist on the table and throw out a barrage of profane words.

"Couldn't even give her the ace, it had to be the f***ing nine!" her opponent spoke with fervor. Liu's composure never broke, however, and she quietly scooped her pot.

Recent Eliminations

Livello 11 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

The field has been reduced to 108 players and amongst those to have recently departed the Amazon Room include Sammy Elkassir, David Warga, Michael Foti, Robert Albrecht, Alex Melnikow and Jose Derubin.

Chino Rheem has also been eliminated, along with Edward Nassif, who according to the chip count list from last night, claimed to have returned today with a whopping 92,000 in chips. As it turns out that he only had one-tenth of that amount, having written one too many zeros on the bag!

Sean Nguyen Flops Nut Flush, Chips Up

Livello 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Jerrod Ankenman opened up action pre flop and got callers in Eric Lopez and Sean Nguyen. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Lopez bet, Ankenman raised, and Nguyen three-bet. Lopez folded and Ankenman called. The turn came {10-Hearts}. Ankenman checked, Nguyen bet, and Ankenman called. The {k-Clubs} showed up on the river. Ankenman checked again, Nguyen bet, and Ankenman called.

Nguyen flipped up the nuts with {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and picked up a nice pot.

One Foot in the Grave(s)?

Livello 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Dustin Graves has taken a hit to his stack and has slipped to 15,000 in chips after losing a sizeable pot to John Monnette.

Monnette raised from early position before the flop and the action folded around to Graves who called from the big blind, before both players checked their option on the flop of {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

Graves then proceeded to check-call Monnette on both the turn of the {10-Hearts} and the river {8-Diamonds}, only to muck after Monnette tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for Broadway.

Monette is well on his way to the mon-ay, now sitting on a stack worth 40,000.

Fahrenheit 2,400

Jen Harman
Jen Harman

With the limits at 1,200/2,400, Jennifer Harman stuck 2,400 of her last 2,500 in the pot from early position. She was called by the small blind, and Michael Moore in the big blind. No, not the documentary film maker, but rather a native of Agar, South Dakota.

The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Spades} and everyone threw in a 100 chip to officially put Harman all in. The turn came {10-Spades} and it went check-check. When the {A-Diamonds} fell on the turn, the small blind checked to Moore who bet and caused the small blind to fold. Moore flipped over {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and caused Jennifer Harman to muck her cards and gather her belongings.

"Maybe next time" said Moore to Harman.

"Next time, what?" replied Harman with a smile. "I knock you out? No that’s okay. I’m looking for first in the main event and you come in second, how about that?" Both players shared a parting smile and Harman began her walk toward the rail.

Finne with the Ladies

Livello 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Timothy Finne cracked the aces of Marty Roggentien when he picked up pocket queens.

Roggentien was all in pre flop when the flop came up {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} giving him a set of aces and well ahead of Finne's queens. The turn came {10-Diamonds}, and the river {9-Hearts}, giving Finne runner, runner for the straight.

Finne now sits with a healthy stack of 51,000 chips in front of him.

Tynen Needs Some Tylenol

Livello 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

The impressively-named Tynen Sammatarohutchins (87 points with a triple word score in Scrabble) has just copped a brutal beat to end his tournament life, at the hands of Timothy Finne, who is now on 43,000.

The money was all-in on a board that read {J-Spades}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}; Sammatarohutchins had moved the last of his money in holding {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, but Finne had managed to jag a straight on the turn with his {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Ouch!

We can also report that Tom Schneider has been eliminated, joining Marty Roggentein, Shunjiro Uchida, Damien Leforbes and Andre Pagnillo on the rail.

Boyd's Kings Reign Supreme

Livello 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

On a flop of {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}, Benjamin Scholl tossed out a bet and was raised by Dutch Boyd from the button. Scholl called and the {8-Hearts} came down on the turn. Scholl checked to Boyd this time, who threw out a bet which was called by Scholl. The action went check-bet-call one final time when the {2-Diamonds} fell on the river and Boyd tabled {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}, causing Scholl to send his cards sailing into the muck.

We've also spotted our first player to cross the 100,000 chip mark, with Sean Nguyen currently sitting with around 103,000 in chips! Bam!
