Day 2 of Event #11: $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack; Top Pros and Upcoming Hopefuls
Yesterday's Day 1 of Event #11 $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack at the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas played down from a tremendous 6,085 entries to just 318 competitors vying for the $351,098 first place prize that goes along with the hardware.
This event has managed to create a star-studded field that included Main Event Champions like Phil Hellmuth and Greg Raymer, as well as, new up-and-coming hopefuls like the Day 1 chip leader Kevin Daily, or new vlogger and poker personality Benjamin "Pyzza" Teston. According to the latter, "I came down here in an old, shitty limo and convinced my friends to pay $50 a night so we could stay all summer in a mansion, problem is I'm totally broke". Hellmuth, on the other side of the spectrum financially, bagged a healthy 665,000 and will be trying his best to extend his bracelet lead, while his fellow Main Event Champion, Raymer, failed to bag.
Indeed, the introduction of these lower buy-in bracelets has allowed people to transition from poker fans into bracelet winners, which can be seen by the reaction of last year's winner, Tamas Lendvai.
Play will be picking up again today at 11 a.m. at the Horseshoe and Paris. Of a total prize pool of $3,098,760, all players returning are guaranteed $1,702.

Skender Alicka limped in early position and Haresh Jathani called in the small blind before Minh Nguyen checked his option.
The dealer fanned a flop of 5♠3♣2♥ and once checked to, Nguyen jammed his stack of about 160,000 into the middle which received quick folds from both of his opponents.

Ryan Dewbre raised to 100,000 in early position and Phuoc Nguyen three-bet jammed for 440,000 from a couple of spots to his left. The action folded back around to Dewbre as he called off with the exact same amount of chips.

It was a classic race as the flop came Q♥8♦2♦, missing both players. The A♠ turn was looking promising for Dewbre but the K♦ river improved Nguyen to a pair of kings to send Dewbre to the payout desk.

Ruter Quickly Adds Much Needed Chips

Multiple players busted out as short stacks within minutes of Day 2 kicking off.
WSOP bracelet winner Mike Ruter, who started Level 23 with 240,000, made sure he wasn’t one of them.
After a player in middle position raised, Ruter moved all in at the cutoff. The button and blinds folded, and action returned to the original raiser, who made the call.

The board ran out K♣7♣Q♠8♣7♦, giving Ruter two pair and a fast double up.
On the very next hand with Ruter on the button, he once again moved all in after action folded to him. The blinds folded and he picked up the combined 60,000 from the small blind, big blind and the ante.
