Exciting Action Expected for Event #15: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em

Leo Soma

Another 6-handed event of the 2023 World Series of Poker begins at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with Event #15: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em.

Action will be the name of the game for today. With only six players at each table, this tournament should be exciting to follow. The defending champion is Leo Soma from France, who won $456,889 in 2022. He has already been spotted in Las Vegas and will definitely be back to defend his title.

Soma overcame a stacked final table in 2022 when he defeated Thomas Schultz heads-up. The final table also featured familiar players like Ivan Zhechev and the 2009 Main Event champion Joe Cada.

Cards will be in the air at 10 a.m. local time and players begin Day 1 with 25,000 chips. Blinds start at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante and levels are 40 minutes, with a 20-minute break after every three levels. A 75-minute dinner break is also on the schedule after Level 12, which is expected to be around 7 p.m. They will play 17 levels today, with late registration possible until the end of Level 9 and the following break. This should be around 5 p.m.

With record-breaking fields for almost every tournament, this event's expectation is no different. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for full coverage of this one as we begin the road to crowning another champion at the World Series Of Poker.

Sixes Wild for Farmer

Livello 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

"I'm going to win this thing," said Deborah "Debizzle" Farmer. "Do you want to know why?"

"Today is my 66th birthday. It's the sixth day of the sixth month, this is a 6-max event, and six is my life number."

"Are you going to win with trip sixes?" asked a tablemate.

"No!" exclaimed Farmer. "Quad sixes!"

Happy birthday and good luck!

Maguire Calls Down with Ace High

Livello 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Chris Maguire
Chris Maguire

Chris Maguire opened from the cutoff to 300. The action folded to the small blind who three-bet to 1,600. Maguire called.

The board came 233. The small blind continued for 800 and Maguire elected to see a turn.

The 3 fell putting three of a kind on board. The small blind bet again, this time for 3,200. Maguire didn't back down and both players went to the river.

The 9 saw the aggressor tank for some time before electing to check, Maguire checked back in a snap as he tabled AQ. Ace high was good and the small blind mucked his cards.

Three to a Flop, Ouimette on Top

Livello 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

A player under the gun raised to 500 to which Justin Ouimette three-bet to 1,500. The small blind cold-called and the original raiser also came along.

On a board of 5Q2, both players checked to Ouimette, who bet out 1,600. This was all it took as both players folded and he claimed the pot.
