Mateos is one of three players to bag more than 3,000,000, with Chris Hunichen (3,620,000) in second and three-time WSOP bracelet winner Chance Kornuth (3,375,000) in third.

Day 1 of the event brought out multiple WSOP bracelet winners, headlined by a pair of Poker Hall of Famers in Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu, both of whom were sent to the rail during the latter levels of the tournament.
Other notables in the field include three-time bracelet winner Justin Bonomo (1,795,000), who stacked Ivey in Level 11; five-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus (2,190,000); 2021 Main Event champion Koray Aldemir (1,800,000); five-time bracelet winner Brian Rast (1,520,000); bracelet winner Alex Foxen (1,010,000); and two-time bracelet winner Michael Moncek (700,000), among others.
Conversely, the field had its share of high-profile casualties on Day 1, as Foxen’s wife, three-time bracelet winner Kristen Foxen, made an early exit. Bracelet winner Jason Koon also left the field after getting stacked.
The tournament boasted 79 entries, which surpassed last year’s Day 1 entry pool of 62 participants and generated a prize pool worth $7,643,250.
The figures could grow as late registration continues to the start of Day 2, which resumes Tuesday at noon local time at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
The players are scheduled to play a total of fifteen 40-minute levels on Day 2, with blinds resuming at 20,000/40,000 and a 40,000 ante in Level 13. Players will have 15-minute breaks every three levels, with an hour-long dinner break after Level 21.
Follow along as PokerNews continues to provide live updates and chip counts on Day 2.
Please note, late registration remains open until the start of Day 2, so the table draw is subject to change.

Each table is playing four more hands before the bagging and tagging process begins.
Ren Lin opened to 65,000 in the hijack and Daniel Negreanu shoved all in for 375,000 in the cutoff.
"You gamble too much," Lin said right away. "No good for you."
The action folded back to Lin who quickly called to put Negreanu at risk.
Daniel Negreanu: 4♥4♦
Ren Lin: A♣A♦
The board ran out K♠10♦3♦8♦3♣ and Lin hardly broke a sweat as he sent Negreanu to the rail for the second and final time today.

Dan Smith was short stacked with 250,000 remaining and in middle position near the end of Level 12. He decided to make a stand and moved all in.
The action folded to Stephen Chidwick, who was on the button and made the call. The two blinds folded and the cards were tabled.
Dan Smith: J♥10♠
Stephen Chidwick: A♥9♦
The dealer placed 6♥A♥Q♠ on the board, pairing Chidwick’s ace but giving Smith a Broadway straight draw. But the straight didn’t come, as 6♣ appeared on the turn and 3♥ showed up on the river to end Smith’s night.

Freddy Deeb raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Adrian Mateos defended from the big blind. The flop came 7♣4♦2♠ and Mateos checked to Deeb who continued with a bet of 75,000. Mateos check-raised to 230,000 and Deeb called.
The turn brought the 9♥ and Mateos checked again. Deeb fired out a bet of 400,000 and Mateos stuck around to see the J♣ on the river. Mateos checked one more time and Deeb announced all in, putting Mateos to the test for his last 845,000 chips.
Mateos spent some time in the tank, using two of his time banks before finally calling. "Ace-high," Deeb announced as he showed A♣8♠. Mateos rolled over K♣7♠ for a pair of sevens and Deeb lost the majority of his chips in the last level of the night.
