Day 1 of Event #29: $100,000 High Roller has concluded after 12 levels of action, and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Adrian Mateos leads the 35 survivors after bagging 3,650,000.

Mateos is one of three players to bag more than 3,000,000, with Chris Hunichen (3,620,000) in second and three-time WSOP bracelet winner Chance Kornuth (3,375,000) in third.

Day 1 of the event brought out multiple WSOP bracelet winners, headlined by a pair of Poker Hall of Famers in Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu, both of whom were sent to the rail during the latter levels of the tournament.

Other notables in the field include three-time bracelet winner Justin Bonomo (1,795,000), who stacked Ivey in Level 11; five-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus (2,190,000); 2021 Main Event champion Koray Aldemir (1,800,000); five-time bracelet winner Brian Rast (1,520,000); bracelet winner Alex Foxen (1,010,000); and two-time bracelet winner Michael Moncek (700,000), among others.

Conversely, the field had its share of high-profile casualties on Day 1, as Foxen’s wife, three-time bracelet winner Kristen Foxen, made an early exit. Bracelet winner Jason Koon also left the field after getting stacked.

The tournament boasted 79 entries, which surpassed last year’s Day 1 entry pool of 62 participants and generated a prize pool worth $7,643,250.

The figures could grow as late registration continues to the start of Day 2, which resumes Tuesday at noon local time at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

The players are scheduled to play a total of fifteen 40-minute levels on Day 2, with blinds resuming at 20,000/40,000 and a 40,000 ante in Level 13. Players will have 15-minute breaks every three levels, with an hour-long dinner break after Level 21.

Follow along as PokerNews continues to provide live updates and chip counts on Day 2.

Freddy Deeb raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Adrian Mateos defended from the big blind. The flop came 742 and Mateos checked to Deeb who continued with a bet of 75,000. Mateos check-raised to 230,000 and Deeb called.

The turn brought the 9 and Mateos checked again. Deeb fired out a bet of 400,000 and Mateos stuck around to see the J on the river. Mateos checked one more time and Deeb announced all in, putting Mateos to the test for his last 845,000 chips.

Mateos spent some time in the tank, using two of his time banks before finally calling. "Ace-high," Deeb announced as he showed A8. Mateos rolled over K7 for a pair of sevens and Deeb lost the majority of his chips in the last level of the night.

Picking up the action on the river with a completed board of 9837Q, Justin Bonomo and Phil Ivey were heads-up in a pot with around 900,000 in the middle. Bonomo checked from the big blind and Ivey shipped all in for 620,000 in the cutoff.

Bonomo asked for a count and then dipped into the tank for over a minute. He eventually made the call and Ivey nodded as he tabled A10 for just ace-high. Bonomo flipped over A8 for just a pair of eights but that was enough to send Ivey to the rail.

Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

Freddy Deeb just got paid off on a huge river bet of 300,000 against Zachary Schwartz where Deeb turned over a full house to approach seven figures.

Then he was heads-up with Masashi Oya with around 70,000 in the middle and the board reading JJ9J. Deeb led out with a bet of 100,000 from the small blind and Oya called to see the 4 on the river.

Deeb announced all in and Oya went into the tank for a couple of minutes with a stack of around 400,000 in front of him. Oya eventually called and Deeb turned over J7 for quad jacks to trump Oya's KK.
