Wong Leaves Moncek on Fumes

Livello 25 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante
Michael Moncek
Michael Moncek

Jerry Wong: XxXx / 5x7xQx6x / Xx
Michael Moncek: XxXx / Kx3x5x10x / Xx

Carlos Chadha had won a small three-way pot without any major action on fifth street and then forced out Michael Moncek on sixth street in a small pot when both had high-card heavy boards.

Up next, Jerry Wong completed and was called by Moncek as the bring-in. Wong bet fourth street with the lead before he check-called on fifth and sixth street when his queen was ahead against an open king. Wong opted to bet seventh and Moncek called for his opponent to announce a seven-six, exposing the Qx3x2x.

Moncek sighed and flashed his 8x2xAx for an eight-five to drop to fewer than three big bets.

Courtesy Double for Moncek

Livello 25 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante

Michael Moncek: 2x6x / 7x3x6xJx / 8x
Carlos Chadha: 3xJx / 4x8xQxKx / 9x

Jerry Wong had the bring-in showing a ten and the short-stacked Michael Moncek completed. Carlos Chadha then raised, Wong folded, and Moncek put in a reraise.

Chadha called and then called a bet on fourth. Moncek had just 10,000 back and bet it on fifth, which Chadha called.

Moncek wound up with an eight-low to double, which prompted Chadha to smile and say, "Courtesy double."

Moncek Gets Short; Earns a Few Chips Back

Livello 25 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante

Jerry Wong: XxXx / 4x3x8x
Michael Moncek: XxXx / Kx7xJx folded on fifth street

Jerry Wong completed with a four and was called by bring-in Michael Moncek. Wong bet again on fourth street to earn a call and bet fifth street, on which Moncek caught more paint and snap-folded.

Michael Moncek: XxXx / 6xKx2x
Carlos Chadha: XxXx / 7x9x10x folded on fifth street

Moncek then completed with a six and Carlos Chadha called with a seven. Moncek bet the next two streets and received a call at first before Chadha folded on fifth.

Wong won the next three-way limped pot when all three players had a queen-high combo showing as his bet forced two folds.

First Level Belongs to Chadha

Livello 25 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante

Jerry Wong: XxXx / Ax8xKxAx / Xx
Carlos Chadha: 4x3xQx4x / 8x6xKx

In the last hand before the break, Michael Moncek had the bring-in and Carlos Chadha completed with a four. Jerry Wong raised with an ace, Moncek folded, and Chadha called.

Chadha then check-called a bet on fourth before both players checked on fifth. Each paired on sixth, and Wong checked (remember, aces are low in razz so his pair of aces were technically lower than the pair of fours).

Chadha bet, Wong called, and it was off to seventh street. Wong led out with a bet and Chada thought for awhile before calling.

"King," a resigned Wong said without tabling his hand. That promoted Chadha to table his winning queen-low.

Kevin Martin snapped a video from the table he was at, which he shared on Twitter Thursday, of what just might be the craziest hand played thus far at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

The hand involved four premium pocket pairs and took place on Day 1 of Event #37: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em. PokerNews' live reporting team was also at the table to record the wild action.

Moncek Has to Settle for Cruel Chop

Livello 26 : Limits 120,000/240,000, 30,000 ante

Michael Moncek: XxXx / JxAx folded on fourth street
Carlos Chadha: XxXx / 9x3x

Michael Moncek completed with a jack and called a raise by Carlos Chadha. When picking up an ace on fourth, Moncek faced a bet by Chadha and folded.

Michael Moncek: 2x3x / 7x4x9xAx / Qx
Carlos Chadha: 10x4x / 7x2x7xAx / 3x

Moncek completed and then made it three bets when Chadha had raised, with his opponent calling. Moncek bet fourth with 170,000 behind and earned a call from Chadha, who paired his seven on fifth. Moncek moved all-in and Chadha called after a few seconds.

When both caught an ace on sixth, Moncek was a huge favourite to double despite failing to improve with a Qx.

"Only a three to chop," Jerry Wong said and Chadha flipped over his last card without peeling to reveal ... a 3x for a chop.

Moncek Isn't Ready to Go Yet

Livello 26 : Limits 120,000/240,000, 30,000 ante

Michael Moncek: Ax6x / 4x10x6xJx / 9x
Carlos Chadha: Ax3x / Jx8x2xKx / Kx

Carlos Chadha had the bring-in and called after Michael Moncek completed. The latter then bet fourth, the former raised, and Moncek popped it again to get all in for 275,000 total, which Chadha called.

Moncek didn't seem to like it after he paired on fifth and Chadha received a deuce, but the rest of the runout was favorable for Moncek, who made a ten-low to beat Chadha's jack-low.
