Event #33: $10,000 Razz Championship
Giorno 1 iniziato
Today marks Day 1 of Event #33: $10,000 Razz Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker. Players at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas will be attempting to make the lowest possible hand in this stud-game variant where straights and flushes do not matter.
Last year's Razz Championship was a star-studded affair that saw numerous bracelet winners finish in the Top 20, including Yueqi Zhu (3rd), Koray Aldemir (4th), Max Pescatori (6th), Brian Hastings (7th), Brandon Shack-Harris (8th), and Joao Vieira (10th). Rising above them all was Julien Martini, taking down $328,906 and his fourth WSOP bracelet after defeating Hal Rotholz in heads-up play.
Other players expected to play include multiple-time razz bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth as well as David "ODB" Baker, who won Event #24: $1,500 Razz less than 48 hours ago. He looks to repeat Chad Eveslage's feat of taking down the $1,500 variant of a tournament prior to capturing the $10,000 championship event.
Turnout for this event is expected to be high. The $1,500 Razz event saw last year's field of 383 increase to 586, and with many events having increased attendance, it will be interesting to see if this year's event can improve on last year's 139-entrant figure.
Players will begin the tournament with 60,000 chips with a 100 ante, 200 bring in, 500 completion, and limits of 500-1,000. Players will play six 40-minute levels followed by four 60-minute ones, and late registration will be open until the start of Day 2.
Stay tuned to PokerNews for full coverage of this event as well as all WSOP bracelet events.

Opponent: XxXx/9x10x7xJx/Xx
Baud bet every street event when the betting lead changed which saw his opponent checking and Baud betting.
On seventh after the opponent checked and Baud called, Baud turned over Ax8x5x for a six-five low which was good for the pot as his opponent's best possible low was a seven.

Phil Galfond has yet to make an appearance at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP), and as he told PokerNews, right now he has no plans to play live.
“But who knows, plans change,” added Galfond, who has been playing online at WSOP.com.
While Galfond hasn’t been at the WSOP – well, at least Phil as his wife, Farah Galfond, has been competing – the three-time bracelet winner is still weighing in by his relatively new newsletter “PG’s Takes of the Week.”
One of the topics the online poker legend, who prior to the WSOP inserted himself in some drama involving Doug Polk and Charlie Carrel with a pointed letter, was that of the Poker Hall of Fame. Right now, the public is being solicited for nomination.
“The nominations for the Poker Hall of Fame are now open, presenting voters with a familiar dilemma: there are simply too many great options to choose from,” Galfond wrote before giving his picks.
Action was picked up on fourth street between three players.
Andres Korn: XxXx/Qx5x3xJx/Xx
Opponent: XxXx/2x5x10x8x/Xx
Yuval Bronshtein: XxXx/6xQx (Folded on fourth)
The player with the five low showing bet on fourth which only Korn called. On fifth street the other player bet once more and Korn raised which saw his opponent call. Korn called a bet on sixth street and on seventh street his opponent bet and Korn raised which his opponent.
Korn turned over Ax2x6x for a six-five low which he picked up on seventh street and his opponent mucked to Korn who raked in the pot.
