Event #33: $10,000 Razz Championship
Giorno 1 completo
Today saw the opening day of Event #33: $10,000 Razz Championship attract 102 entrants to play. Last year’s number of 139 entrants has yet to be passed, but with registration open until the first level of play tomorrow, the event could see a larger turnout than prior years.
Leading the way is Roy Thung, who bagged up 303,000. Thung’s ascent came late into the day with him spending most of the day under the radar. The New York native’s cashes at the WSOP date back to the mid-90s, and time will tell as to whether he will add a bracelet to his long resume.
Rank | Player | Country | Chip Count |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Roy Thung | United States | 303,000 |
2 | Scott Bohlman | United States | 271,000 |
3 | David Funkhouser | United States | 257,000 |
4 | Adam Owen | United Kingdom | 252,000 |
5 | Bryce Yockey | United States | 244,500 |
6 | Brian Yoon | United States | 241,500 |
7 | Brad Ruben | United States | 214,000 |
8 | Vasili Lazarou | Greece | 208,000 |
9 | Daniel Zack | United States | 203,000 |
10 | Noah Bronstein | United States | 197,000 |
Second in chips was another player who surged late in the night, Illinois’ own Scott Bohlman who ended the night with 271,000. Bohlman registered the day very late, but his timing paid off with many massive pots pushed in his direction to put him at the near top of the counts. Bohlman’s bracelet came in 2018 in the big bet mix, but a bracelet in the stud variant’s has evaded him thus far, with a second place also in 2018. With a spot at the top of the counts, he looks to position himself better for the chance to win the bracelet.
Also bagging near the top of the chip counts is Adam Owen who ended his day with 254,000. Owen has made a name for himself over the past few years in the highest stakes mixed game tournaments. He did finish in third place in the 2015 variant of this event and perhaps like Julien Martini before him, he looks to go from third place in this event to first for his own WSOP bracelet.
Others that also bagged were recently crowned bracelet winner Brian Yoon (241,500), 2022 WSOP Player of the Year Dan Zack (203,000), Yuval Bronshtein (177,000), and Poker hall of famers John Hennigan (127,000), Daniel Negreanu (61,000), and Jen Harman (59,000). Each one looking to add another bracelet to their already studded collections.
Defending champion Julien Martini was eliminated during the day and elsewhere the newly crowned Razz champion David “ODB” Baker fell to 16-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, who departed shortly after him.
Not all were in fortune’s graces today. Players like Bryan Micon, Adam Friedman, Joao Vieira and Dzmitry Urbanovich were all eliminated throughout today’s play. Their wishes for a bracelet in this game will have to come next year.
Players will return on June 14 at 1:00 p.m. local time, with action picking up at Level 11 with antes at 1,000 and a bring-in at 1,000 and limits at 3,000-6,000.
Levels will last 90 minutes each with a 15-minute break occurring after every level. Players will play for a total of seven levels before bagging up for the final day of play.

Tournament staff have announced that players will play five more hands before bagging for the night.
Perry Friedman: XxXx/7x3x10x4x/Xx
Benjamin Yu: XxXx/2x4x2x3x/Xx
Friedman completed and Yu made the call. On fourth street, Yu bet and was called.
Yu showed a pair of twos on fifth street, but still called his opponent's bet. Friedman then check-called a bet on sixth street.
Friedman again check-called on seventh street. Yu showed Ax6xKx to take down the pot, as Friedman folded.

Negreanu, fresh from the Golden Knights Stanley Cup-clinching performance and in a festive mood, called Yoon's bets on fourth and fifth street before leading out on sixth street. Yoon considered for a moment, and called.
Negreanu then bet on the river, and after some playful needling of his opponent, watched Yoon fold. Negreanu showed 7x5x as he took in the pot.
