Event #63: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
Giorno 2 completo
An entertaining day of poker and banter in Day 2 of Event #63: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) wrapped up early Thursday morning with 17 players remaining, including Poker Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu and HOF hopeful Mike Matusow who will both look to grind up their short stacks.
The old-school poker stars will have their work cut out for them on Day 3 as they battle with chip leaders Maximilian Schindler and Andres Korn, who was down to a single big bet earlier in the evening before mounting a triumphant run to bag 926,000. Other players who will return on Day 3 include two-time bracelet winner Joao Vieira, the controversial Bryn Kenney, Day 1 chip leader Bruno Fitoussi and fellow TV poker icons David "Chino" Rheem and Dzmitry Urbanovich.

2 | Andres Korn | 926,000 | 23
3 | Joao Vieira | 837,000 | 21
4 | Yong Wang | 752,000 | 19 | |
5 | Bryn Kenney | 601,000 | 15

Though several players joined the field on Day 2, it didn't take long for many of them to drop out alongside the Day 1 short stacks. Some of the early casualties of the day included Poker Hall of Famers Phil Ivey and Jen Harman, who were seated side-by-side at a table that also included Connor Drinan and 2021 Main Event Champion Koray Aldemir, as well as six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus and five-time bracelet winner Benny Glaser, who "Crazy" Mike Thorpe joked that he was trying to "kill" throughout the first level.
But the real party began when Thorpe joined Matusow to put Eric Wasserson in a "Crazy Mike Sandwich" that led to many memorable moments throughout the day. Things got even more exciting when they were joined by Chad Eveslage as the Dealer's Choice champion chased his third bracelet of the series.
The Crazy Mikes teamed up to needle, berate and criticize the Dealer's Choice champion throughout the evening, largely in good fun. "Chad's a great guy, I just f***ing hate him now," Matusow said after a few contested pots against the three-time bracelet winner. "The more he doubles me up, the more I like him ... I have ten big bets. You giving me ten big bets is like giving Chad four."
Eveslage was one of the first players in the money to be eliminated after the elimination of last year's $1,500 Seven Card Stud champion Alex Livingston on the stone bubble. After hands that included a much-discussed one where Eveslage bet into a dry side pot with a gunshot and wound up doubling up an all-in Korn to enable his rise to the top of counts, Eveslage became the short stack and fell in 21st place for $16,000.
After that, mixed game author Dylan Linde was eliminated in 19th place before six-time bracelet winner Brian Hastings became the final elimination of the day.
The 17 remaining players will return for Day 3 on June 29 at 2:00 p.m. local time and the plan is to play to a winner. PokerNews will be on-site to report on the Day 3 action, so be sure to stay tuned.

Mike Thorpe: A♦5♦/3♥4♠K♥6♣/K♣
Joao Vieira: Q♦Q♠/3♦A♣2♦4♣/J♥
Mike Thorpe was all-in for his last big bet and Joao Vieira made the call.
Vieira's queens remained ahead up until sixth street, when both players had wheel draws and Thorpe already had a made low. Howver, seventh street brought Thorpe a king and thus a higher pair, causing him to scoop the pot in the final minutes of Day 2.

Maximilian Schindler: A♦Xx / 4♣5♣4♦J♦
Dan Colpoys: XxXx / A♣A♠10♦3♠ - folded on sixth street
In a heads-up pot, Dan Colpoys checked on fifth street after pairing his ace and called a bet from Maximilian Schindler.
"You've probably already got a full house, Max," Colpoys said.
Schindler bet out of turn on sixth street and bet again after a check from Colpoys, who went on a vulgar tirade as he folded what he said was aces up.
"How is he waxing all of our vaginas? You're just whaling into my hole," Colpoys cried before turning to table mate Daniel Negreanu.
"Sausage in my hand; just like you, Daniel."

The action was picked up on fourth street when Daniel Negreanu bet and received three calls. Maximilian then was first to act on fifth street and he checked to Negreanu, who put out another bet. Dzmitry Urbanovich and Calvind Anderson called before Schindler check-raised.
Negreanu took a while but eventually folded. Urbanovich stuck around while Anderson also swiftly let his hand go. Sixth street then went check-check before Schindler bet a final time on seventh street. Urbanovich took his time but ultimately decided to throw his cards into the muck as well, awarding the big pot to Schindler.

Andres Korn: 10♦9♥ / 2♣10♥4♠6♥ / 9♥
Brian Hastings was all in and at risk against Andres Korn and was behind Korn's tens. Hastings peeled his final card on seventh street and saw the bad news as the K♦ didn't improve his hand to mark his elimination in 18th place.

Yong Wang bet on fifth street and Mike Matusow called. The same sequence occured on sixth street before Wang checked on seventh.
Matusow now put out a bet and Wang called. Matusow showed A♥A♣6♠ for a pair of aces and a low, and it was good to scoop the pot.

Yong Wang completed and called a two-bet from Mike Matusow. Wang then check-called on fourth and fifth street and then led out on sixth street after pairing his king. Matusow called.
Wang checked on seventh street and Matusow bet. Wang went deep into the tank despite the good price and rubbed his hands together for several minutes. Eventually, he called.
"You're good," Matusow said as Wang tabled his two pair.
"I almost folded," Wang said.
"That might be the first river I've bluffed at the whole World Series," Matusow said glumly.
