Event #65: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em (6-Handed)

Giorno 1 iniziato

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #65: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

Jonathan Pastore
Jonathan Pastore

It should be an exciting day on the poker felt as Event #65: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed is ready to get underway at the 2023 World Series of Poker taking place at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. It is often considered one of the most entertaining forms of poker when the full ring is reduced to just six players per table and the action is put on fast forward.

This event will in all likelihood draw some of the biggest names in poker as it is the largest buy-in event of the no-limit hold'em variant that is currently taking place. Last year, Jonathan Pastore from France topped a field of 920 entries, who created a massive prize pool of $4,243,500 for his first WSOP gold bracelet. Pastore had to maneuver his way past poker pros Elio Fox and Stephen Song at the final table en route to the first-place prize of $771,765.

The action is scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m. local time inside the ballroom at Paris Las Vegas. Each player will be given a starting stack of 50,000 chips with the blinds beginning at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. The levels will be 60 minutes in length and a total of ten levels are on tap for Day 1.

This is a single reentry event with late registration staying open until the start of Day 2. There will be 15-minute breaks after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level which will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m. This event has been stretched to four days now with the winner being crowned on Saturday.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here every step of the way to bring you all of the live updates and any exciting highlights that take place.

There was an open seat within the first 15 minutes of the tournament and the action was relayed as to what happened.

Paulina Loeliger raised it up on the button and Michael Raynor defended from the big blind. The flop came QxJx3x and Loeliger continued with a bet. Raynor check-raised and Loeliger clicked it back which Raynor just called.

The turn brought the 5 and Raynor checked again. Loeliger fired out a bet of 4,000 on the turn and Raynor still called. The river was an 8 and Raynor checked once more. Loeliger ripped all in and Raynor thought for a minute before making the call. Loeliger showed K10 for a missed straight draw while Raynor held J3 for two pair.
