Play has concluded on Day 1 of Event #7: $1,500 Limit Hold'em, and after 15 levels of action, Dana Davidson (208,500) leads the pack, with Mike Leah (200,000) and Nicholas Goedert rounding out the top three places in the chip counts.

Mixed game specialist Adam Friedman (156,500) also bagged a big stack as another day of high-octane poker action ended at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

Some of the notable players remaining in the field include Nick Schulman (180,500), Jim Collopy (85,000), Patrick Leonard (79,500), Justin Pechie (74,500), Erick Lindgren (56,500), and Joe McKeehen (14,900). Bill Klein (79,000), a staple on high-stakes poker live streams, also remains.

Not everyone survived the action. Over the course of 15 levels of play, the likes of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Humberto Brenes, 2020 WSOP bracelet winner Nick Guagenti, and Ben Ross, the 2022 runner-up in this same event, were sent to the rail.

Only 169 players out of the starting field of 527 remain, and with it, their dreams of winning a coveted WSOP bracelet are still alive. Of the remaining playing field, 80 will make it into the money.

Play resumes at 1:00 p.m. local time on June 2 inside the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The players are scheduled to play ten hour-long levels on their way towards the money places and then the final table. The Day 2 action starts on Level 16, with blinds at 2,000-4,000, and 4,000-8,000 limits.

On a board of 3♠4♦7♣ with three players, the small blind checked to Nick Schulman in the big blind who bet out, getting called by both the under-the-gun and small blind players who all see a J♥ turn.

The small blinds checks to Schulman again and he slides out another bet. The under-the-gun-player folded before the small blind made the call to see the 9♣ river.

Both players checked and the small blind turned up A♦K♥ for ace high while Schulman showed 10♣10♥ to take the pot down just before the players bagged for the night.

Sanchez Sniffs Out Klein's Bluff

On a board of K♣7♣Q♣A♥, Sandy Sanchez checked-called a bet from Bill Klein to see the 4♦ fall on the river.

Sanchez checked again and Klein put out another bet. Sanchez briefly tanked before sliding forward calling chips, prompting Klein to quickly knuckle the table and show 10♠9♦ for a pure bluff.

Sanchez turned up the A♠3♠ and the dealer pushed him the pot.

2022 Runner-Up Ross Eliminated in Level 14

Ben Ross’ goal of making a second straight final table in the WSOP $1,500 Limit Hold’em event came to an end during the second to last level of Day 1.

Ross, who was the runner-up to Michael Moncek in this same event in 2022, was short stacked with less than 5,000 before finding himself in an all-in situation against Bobby Espina, who raised preflop from middle position.

Ross seemed to resign himself to his fate, as he stood to gather his belongings after tabling 5♦ 9♥ and looking across the table at Espina’s Q♠J♥.

The flop of 5♥A♥6♥ provided Ross some hope after he hit bottom pair, but Q♠ on the turn put Espina in the lead with top pair, and then 10♥ on the river gave Espina a flush.

On a board of 4♣9♥8♣9♦5♥, the player first to act led out with a bet and saw a quick call come from Mark Kahn who quickly turned over 5♣5♠, prompting a fold from his opponent and leaving him with around a single big bet.

On the very next hand, Kahn had the very same player at risk before the flop and held the best hand after a five card runout, eliminating a player and shooting up the leaderboard.
