The first week of the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas is now underway with players from around the world ready to compete. There are 16 players returning to the tables today for the third round of Event #8: $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship.

Doug Polk is back at the WSOP and is looking to make an impact in this event. The heads-up specialist dubbed the tournament the “Doug Invitational” on the way to defeating Shunta Someya and French pro Thomas Eychenne in the first two rounds. He will face Reiji Kono today with a possible matchup versus Chris Brewer in Round 4 as he aims to add a fourth WSOP gold bracelet to his collection.

Other notables advancing to Day 2 include Sean Winter and Chance Kornuth. Both players have had an excellent start to this series, having placed third and second respectively in Event #2: $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em. Kornuth will face Landon Tice in Round 3 while Winter will contend with Kevin Rabichow who made it to the quarterfinals in this event last year. Winter, Rabichow and Tice will all be vying to claim their first WSOP gold bracelet in this event.

Live Updated Bracket

All eight players winning Round 3 will secure a min-cash of at least $74,648. Two rounds will be played today and the field will be whittled down to just four players by the end of the night. The first round of matches today will begin at 12 p.m. local time while the second round will begin at 5 p.m.

The final four players will return on Sunday to compete for the top prize of $507,020. The Pokernews live reporting team will be on the floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day so stay tuned.

Eric Wasserson bet 8,000 on a flop of 478 and Daemon Richardson called.

Both players checked the 9 turn before Richardson took the opportunity to lead out for 22,000 on the 8 river.
