Day 2 saw 162 players return for Event #18: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha (8-handed) at the 2024 WSOP from The Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

By day’s end, only 10 players remained. They will return at noon on Friday, June 7, to play down to a champion. The first-place prize of $294,311 awaits the winner, as does a coveted WSOP bracelet.

Leading the way into Day 3 is Grzegorz Derkowski with a massive stack of 9,680,000, equalling 161 big blinds! He was present throughout the day but really caught fire in the late levels and went on a tear, busting out players left and right, closing out the night by eliminating Matthew Parry in the final hand.

According to The Hendon Mob Database, Derkowski's only recorded live cash came at the 2023 WSOP, a 33rd place finish in the $1,500 Mixed Omaha event for $7,279. He is guaranteed to more than double that payout regardless of where he eventually finishes.

Following close behind him is PLO savant Dylan Weisman, who also went on a chip-stacking surge late in the evening and managed to bag 5,970,000. Weisman is coming off the back of a $1,666,090 score, his reward for a runner-up finish in a massive $104,000 buy-in PLO event in Montenegro in late May.

$25K Fantasy Draft players Chino Rheem and Daniel Zack are also still in contention.

Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey returned for Day 2 but unfortunately found an early exit at the hands of Kevin Kent. Some other notables whose path ended on Day 2 included Scott Ball, Erick Lindgren, and James Chen (US).

Players are all guaranteed $15,119 and will return tomorrow at noon in the Horseshoe Feature Section and will resume at Level 26 with blinds at 30,000/60,000 with a 60,000 big blind ante. The final day will go on until the winner is crowned and adorned with the WSOP gold bracelet, along with a hefty cash prize.

Matthew Parry
Matthew Parry

Andreas Zampas raised to 150,000 in the hijack and was called by Steve Zolotow in the cutoff, Grzegorz Derkowski on the button, and Jhojan Rivera in the small blind. Matthew Parry was in the big blind and three-bet to 900,000, which only Derkowski called.

They both saw a flop of 259 and Parry shoved all in. Dewkowski snap-called.

Grzegorz Derkowsk: KJ109

Derkowski didn't need to wait long to improve as the 8 turn improved him to an unbeatable flush and elimimated Parry. A meaningless 9 filled out the board which was the last card dealt of Day 2.
