Event #23: $1,500 SHOOTOUT No-Limit Hold'em
Giorno 1b completo
The second flight of Event #23: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout saw a total of 574 put their name into the ring to advance to Day 2. With 20-minute levels, this flight played in a turbo-like fashion, with many big names coming and going in the blink of an eye.
A star studded cast of characters made their way through, with all bagging near identical stacks. One name that rose to the top was 2022 Main Event Champion Espen Jorstad (225,000).
Jorstad started out his day by eliminating two-time WSOP bracelet winner Ari Engel, and it culminated with him getting heads up with bracelet winner Harry Lodge. Eventually Jorstad pulled ahead and eliminated his friend from the tournament to advance into Day 2, and secured his second live cash of the summer.
Another big name in the field was Maria Ho (250,000) who found her bag courtesy of an incredible hero call against Anthony Potis. Ho’s table was full of laughs and good times, with many players complimenting the jovial and fun atmosphere. Ho’s success at the WSOP is no secret, with her having cashed out for millions of dollars. This is her 88th cash at the WSOP in Las Vegas and she looks to make it her first bracelet.
Young stud Landon Tice (225,000) also found his way to a bag, coming off of a career-best score of $550,000 for his runner-up finish at the WPT. Tice has already secured a cash for this summer with a 29th place in the $1,500 6-Max, and now he looks to add some more cashes in his race against Jeremy Becker.
It was also a time for the old school legends as 2008 WSOP player of the year and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Erick Lindgren (250,000) advanced. Lindgren’s return to the WSOP seems to be in full swing as he had already secured three cashes, and now sees his fourth secure him a Day 2 spot and a chance at his fourth bracelet.
Many more advanced through the stacked field. Players like Daniel Sepiol (250,000), Mike Dentale (250,000), Elia Ahmadian (250,000), Alexander Farahi (225,000), Rainer Kempe (250,000), and Jared Jaffee (250,000), who played longer than any other table.
Fortune didn’t smile on all today as players like Maria Lampropulos, Ryan Laplante, Daniel Negreanu, Galen Hall, and Koray Aldemir will all have to look for a bracelet this summer in another event.
Players will return in the Horseshoe Gold at 1:00 p.m. to the next round of levels, with blinds beginning at 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 big blind ante. Levels will be upped to 40-minute levels, with 15-minute breaks at the conclusion of every three levels.
The players will once again battle at their single-tables on Day 2, and the survivors will advance to Day 3.
