Watts on a Hot Streak

Livello 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Bill Chen raised from early position to 8,000 and Watts flatted in position. Gavin Polone, in the big blind, decided to call and said to Watts, "I'm really just calling to prove that you can't win every hand." Watts just smiled.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. All three players checked.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and brought some more action. Polone led out this time for 20,000, Chen folded and Watts made the call. As the river came, Watts asked Polone what he was playing. In fact, Polone just had about 55,000 left. The river fell the {J-Clubs} and Polone let Watts bet this time for 35,000. After Polone called, Watts showed that his amazing hot streak hadn't stopped just yet when he threw down the {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a set.

Polone mucked and Watts is well out in front with 425,000. Polone was eliminated just a few hands later.

Chen & Watts Should Get Their Own Table

With the board reading {J-Hearts} {5-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {6-Hearts} Steve Watts bet 16,500 and Bill Chen raised to 45,000. Watts called and the river came {4-Diamonds}. Watts bet 60,000 and Chen called to see Watts held top two-pair with {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Chen flashed {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} and laughed off the beat. Chen slipped to 240,000 and Watts chipped up to 326,000.

The very next hand Chen and Watts played a hand to the turn where Chen folded after Watts bet 9,000. It seems that these two enjoy playing each other.

Hastings Has Halleux's Number

Livello 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

On a board of {4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Fabrice Halleux announced that he was all in. Corey Hastings declared that he was all in over the top and the cards were turned over.

Halleux: {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Hastings: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

Halleux needed to catch a diamond to stay alive but bricked out on the turn and river, leaving Hastings' set of aces to triumph.

Justin Chan Goes Down the Hard Way

Livello 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Andrea Dato raised from the cutoff to 6,500 before Justin Chan shipped in his stack from the button. It was 39,000 total and Dato decided to call.

Dato: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Chan: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The flop was {K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} which did pair Chan's King but actually gave Dato more outs than he already had. The turn was another {K-Spades} which, while it did give Chan trips, didn't actually effect the number of outs and chances of winning for Dato. And sure enough, the river made him his strait with the {10-Spades}.

Justin Chan was a good sport though. Somewhat in disbelief that the Ten came, he was all smiles and shook Dato's hand. Dato has an even bigger smile though, as he is now up to 185,000.

McFarland Calls Down on River with Ace High

Livello 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We caught up with the aftermath of this hand because of phrases such as "So sick!" and "Oh my god!" being yelled. A player raised under the gun preflop to 5,000 and was flat called by Bradley McFarland. They saw a flop of {10-}{4-}{5-} and the player under the gun continued with a bet of 15,000. McFarland called and the turn came an {8-}. The action went check-check and the two players saw a river of a {10-}, pairing tens on the board. McFarland's opponent shoved all in for around 75,000 and after some pondering, McFarland smelled a rat and made the call, flipping up {A-}{K-}. His opponent was floored by the call, flipping up his own {A-}{Q-} for merely ace-queen high. This call brings McFarland up to 240,000 in chips and it's certain that the rest of his table will think twice before trying to make a move on him again.

Tran Busts Two

Livello 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
JC Tran Back Towards the Top
JC Tran Back Towards the Top

First, it was Donald Boivan. J.C. Tran ousted him and waited not a single hand to get the next notch on his belt.

The under the gun player raised to 5,400. Tran, next to act, re-raised to 14,000. Michael De Gilio tanked in the cutoff for a minute or two before announcing he was all in for his final 50,000 and it folded back to Tran who made the call.

De Gilio was in good shape with his {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} against the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} of Tran. De Gilio even flopped well when it came {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. However, the turn was not as kind. It was the {A-Clubs} and put Tran in front. But it could have been worse. It was the Ace of clubs which gave De Gilio a flush draw, along with the two remaining Kings.

Today is J.C. Tran's day though and the {5-Spades} sent De Gilio to the rail. Tran, who started the day as a top 5 stack, has reached that point again with 257,000.
