Back and Forth, Back and Forth. Fischer Finally Takes It.

Livello 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Daniel Fischer had about a two to one chip lead on Giorgio Medici until this hand.

The two got it all in preflop, Fischer showing {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Medici showing {K-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. The board ran out {4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Spades} and Medici spiked a king on the river to take the chip lead two to one for himself.

Only a few hands later, the two were at it again. They got it all in preflop, Fischer holding {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Medici holding {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} with the board running out {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} giving Fischer 231,200 and Medici 218,800.

A few hands later, we came in when Medici was paying off Fischer after, according to Medici, he flopped two pair. But Fischer had {J-Hearts}{6-Spades} with the board running out {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Hearts} for a turned straight. At that point, Fischer had 449,500 chips leaving Medici with only one 500 chip for the tournament.

Obviously, Medici was all in before the hand even began, but he had {3-Hearts}{J-Spades} vs. Fischer's {6-Spades}{5-Clubs} and the board ran {7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} to give Fischer a flopped straight, but the turn and river were {3-Spades}{4-Spades} to give a rivered full house to Medici for the win! Obviously, Medici had very little hope even after his double up to a whopping 1,000 chips and he was eliminated the next hand to give Fischer the table.

David Robinson Advances

Livello 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We have our second winner of the day, and it is David Robinson. We missed the hand, but he gave us a brief recap of what happened. Robinson had {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and the flop came queen high with two spades. The players got the money in, and his opponent, Robert Suer, had {q-Spades}{9-Spades}. Robinson had a gutshot straight draw, and hit it on the turn, giving him a win and a ticket to tomorrow's final round.

Rusnak Gets Lucky

Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin

Frank Rusnak just got lucky to double to 200,000 through Vitaly Lunkin, Rusnak was all in preflop with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} against Lunkin's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but managed to make a straight on the river of a {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} board to survive. This table is still three-handed.

Yates Vaults Into Chip Lead

Livello 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We walked over to the heads up match between Eric Yates and Scott Montgomery and saw a rather large pot developing. With about 80,000 already in the pot, and the board reading {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}, Yates had over bet the pot, pushing all in for 175,500. Montgomery went deep into the tank, counting out the chips for a call and taking several deep breaths. After about three minutes of thinking, he made the call!

Yates: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Montgomery: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Yates had top pair with a straight draw and Montgomery had second pair with an ace kicker. The river came the {k-Diamonds}, and Yates won the pot to take a giant chip lead in the heads up battle. He has about 400,000 to Montgomery's 50,000.

Verspui Busts DeMichele

Livello 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mike DeMichele was riding a short stack for a long time, but his luck finally ran out, as he has just been busted by Robbie Verspui. We caught the hand as DeMichele was contemplating calling all in on a {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board. He held his cards, {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, practically face up in one hand and the rest of his small stack in the other. He threw the chips in, and saw that precentage wise he was in solid shape, as Verspui showed {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The turn brough the {7-Spades}, giving DeMichele even more outs. But the river came the {k-Hearts}, and DeMichele never caught up. That table is now three handed.

275, Get A Move On!

Livello 5 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With 3 heads-up matches in progress and Dan Kelly already winning his table, table 275 is the anomaly with seven players still remaining. Michael Capener, Robert Georato, Andrew Pantling, Noah Sandler, Amit Makhija, Victor Ramdin, and Jason Deutsch are taking their sweet sweet time and we hope they decide to make some moves soon or else they'll be here all night!
