Haxton Takes a Hit

We caught up with the action on a {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop where Isaac Haxton bet from the small blind. The big blind raised and Haxton just called as the players saw a {Q-Hearts} on the turn where Haxton checked. The big blind bet and Haxton came back with a check-raise that the big blind just called. On the {8-Diamonds} river, Haxton bet but folded to his opponent’s raise as his stack slipped.

Baker Loses a Little

David Baker
David Baker

A player in middle positon raised preflop and received a call from David "ODB" Baker in the big blind, who checked call a bet on a {J-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. Baker proceeded to check-call bets from his opponent on both the {K-Clubs} turn and {6-Spades} river.

The middle-position player revealed {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a rivered pair of sixes, which turned out to be good as Baker simply mucked. He is still sitting pretty with more than double the average stack

My Clean Car

We passed McLean Karr's table just in time to see him get a walk in the big blind, which was good considering he is sitting on a short stack of just 11,500. "They were suited," Karr said after looking at his hole cards. The small blind ventured a guess as to the suit, which prompted Karr to respond, "Actually, my best suit is clubs."

Glantz Takes a Glancing Blow

Matt Glantz raised in early position and it looked like the table might fold around, but The Button had something else in mind and raised. Glantz called and both players got to see the flop of {6-Clubs} {5-Spades} {3-Spades}. Glantz check-called a bet from his opponent to see the turn.

Fourth street was flipped over to reveal the {2-Diamonds}, it was here that Glantz bet out. The button called. We had a replay of action on the river {10-Spades} with Glantz betting and getting called.

In the end Glantz showed {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} which was not enough to beat The Button's {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}.

Haxton Sends One to the Rail

Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

We walked up to Isaac Haxton's table just in time to see him and an unknown player in a raising war. It appeared the action may have been capped preflop, leading to a {Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop. Haxton check-called a bet from his opponent, and then bet the {4-Hearts} turn. His opponent raise all in for just 400 more, and Haxton made the call.

Haxton: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Haxton was in the lead and stayed there as the river blanked.

A Case of False Hope

Jesse Martin raised from the hijack and the big blind moved all in for 600 more. Martin made the call with {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} while the big blind held {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop was kind to the big blind who paired up and took the lead. Unfortunately for him, Martin hit a {9-Diamonds} on the turn to take the lead back. The {K-Hearts} was a blank and the big blind hit the rail while Martin’s stack continued to grow.

Battle of the Blinds

Ken Aldridge
Ken Aldridge

After no one else wanted to play, Ken Aldridge and Isaac Haxton saw a flop of {3-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {A-Spades} from the blinds. Aldridge check-called a bet from Haxton both on the flop and on the {10-Spades} turn.

A river{Q-Diamonds} lead to both players checking. It was Aldridge's {J-} {10-} that was the victor though. Haxton is now well below the average stack.
