Elezra Moves Up

Livello 12

Razz:

Eli Elezra: (X)(X) - {10-}{6-}{K-}{4-} - (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) - {2-}{9-}{8-}{5-} - (X)

Eli Elezra called his opponent's bet on every street until seventh. On seventh, Elezra did a little more than just call and put in a raise. His opponent called.

Elezra tabled {A-}{8-}{3-} from his hole and his opponent held {Q-}{5-}{3-}. Elezra's eight-six low was good enough to beat his opponent's nine-eight low and he won the pot. Elezra's up to 135,000 in chips now.

Flack Flounders with One Pair

Livello 12

Stud:

We caught the action as Layne Flack and an unknown opponent were involved in a heads-up hand.

Flack: (X)(X) - {10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} - (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) - {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} - (X)

On third street Flack's opponent led out for bet of 1,200 and the six-time bracelet winner made the call. When fourth street hit, the opponent continued firing, this time for 2,400. The famously-talkative Flack hesitated as he studied the exposed cards, asking his opponent, "I can see a pair of eights, what else you got?" Flack eventually decided to take another card and made the call.

Fifth and sixth streets brought bets of 2,400 by the opponent and calls by Flack, and when seventh street was distributed the opponent pushed his last 1,000 chips into the pot. Flack appeared to know that he was beat but had to call the last bet given the huge pot at stake. His opponent tabled the {5-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts} for two-pair, eights and sevens, and Flack grimaced as he revealed his {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for an unimproved pair of kings.

The opponent received a much needed double up and Flack shipped a decent portion of his stack across the table.

Andrew Brown's Alive with Ten on River

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

Andrew Brown three-bet before the flop and found one caller. The dealer revealed the {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} on the flop and Brown check-raised for his last 1,500, putting his tournament life at risk with the {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. His opponent tabled the {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and was ahead with his pair of queens. Brown would need to spike a seven for a set or a ten for trips to overcome his opponent.

Turn: {4-Spades}

Brown picked up a low draw on the turn with his A-3-4-7 and could now hit a number of low cards to chop the pot. Fortunately for him, the dealer flipped up the {10-Spades} on the river and no chop was needed, as Brown's trip tens were good enough for the scoop. Brown now sits with just over 13,000 in chips and is still short stacked at this point in Day 2.

Bach Picks Off Bluff

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

The final board read {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and David Bach paused to study his opponent before acting. While Bach was thinking, the player began to reach for chips from his stack in order to bet, but then realized it wasn't his turn and stopped. Bach thought a few seconds longer and then slowly tapped the table to check. His opponent went right back to reaching for chips and bet. Bach went into his own stack and made the call.

Bach's {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} beat his opponent's {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} to win the pot. Bach only held a pair of nines with an ace kicker in the hand and correctly picked off his opponent's bluff.

Mortensen Triples

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

When we got to the table, Carlos Mortensen was all in against two players on the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. The first active player bet and Andrew Brown called to see the {9-Hearts} fall on the turn. The first player bet and Brown called again.

The river was the {5-Spades} and the first player bet. Brown took about 30 seconds and then mucked his hand, giving up the side pot. Mortensen tabled the {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for trip jacks and beat his opponent's {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for trip deuces. Mortensen was able to win the pot and triple up to 12,000 in chips.

Heimiller Handled by Pair of Aces

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

Dan Heimiller found himself all in against a lone opponent after the flop fell {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Showdown:

Heimiller: {4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{K-Spades}

Heimiller had flopped four to the nut low with his A345 and needed a deuce on the turn or river to scoop the pot. His opponent held a pair of aces for a high hand and was looking for high cards on the turn and river to nullify Heimiller's low draws.

Turn: {9-Spades}
River: {Q-Spades}

Heimiller missed his low draws and could only play a pair of fives for a high hand, meaning his opponent took the pot with his pair of aces. Heimiller was eliminated on this hand while his opponent chipped up nicely, as the fast and furious action on Day 2 continues.

Barber Scooped

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

Andrew Barber just lost another pot to drop to 43,000 in chips. The final board read {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Barber showed the {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. His opponent showed the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for the wheel and scooped both halves of the pot from Barber.

Clements Crushed by Flush on Turn

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

Scott Clements made it three bets before the flop and picked up two callers. The flop fell {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and all three players checked, bringing a turn card of {3-Diamonds}. After the first opponent checked, Clements' second opponent decided to fire a bet of 2,000 into the pot and Clements made the call. The first opponent folded and we went heads up to the river.

River: {10-Spades}

Clements' opponent led out once more for a bet of 2,000 and Clements looked him up, tabling the {J-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-}-X for a pair of aces. His opponent showed down the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a turned flush and took the pot. Clements dropped to just over 9,000 chips after the loss.

Gaspard Guts Barber on the River

Livello 11

Hold'em:

Andrew Barber raised from early position and Andreas Krause called from the next seat. Action folded to Jean "Prince" Gaspard in the big blind and he made the call. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Gaspard checked. Barber bet, Krause folded and Gaspard called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and Gaspard checked again. Barber fired and Gaspard called.

The river was the {2-Clubs} to complete the board and Gaspard bet out into Barber. Barber made the call. Gaspard tabled the {5-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a rivered wheel. "Unreal," said Barber. "Unreal." He then mucked his hand and Gaspard won the pot.

Gaspard moved to 44,500 while Barber dropped back to 49,000.
