West Gets the Best of Schaaf in Subsequent Hands

In the first hand, Tim West opened for 24,000 from middle position and James Schaaf called from the big.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The turn came a {10-Diamonds} and Schaaf led out for 25,000. West called.

The {J-Clubs} river slowed Schaaf down and he checked. West quickly announced he was all-in, to which Schaaf said, "I think I let you get there," and he mucked.

A few hands later, Schaaf opened for 30,000 and was met with an all-in re-shove from West for approximately 213,000. Schaaf called and saw he was in good shape going to the flop.

West: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Schaaf: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The board, however, had it in for Schaaf, as it ran out {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts} - pairing West and shipping him the pot.

After those two confrontations, Schaaf is down to 380,000 while West has risen to 430,000.

One More For West

Eric Afriat shoved all in for his last 32,000 preflop and was called by Tim West.

West had {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Afriat had {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to give Afriat a set of kings and West a four-flush. The turn was an irrelevant {8-Clubs}, but the river {4-Diamonds} gave West the hand and the bust out.

We are down to 32 players here going into the last break before the last level of the night.

Alexander Amid Chip Leaders

In a blind vs. blind confrontation, Zachary Urton completed from the small and Dejuante Alexander raised to 24,000 from the big. Urton called.

Urton checked dark going into flop, which came {Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, prompting a 27,000 bet from Alexander. Not ready to give up, Urton raised to 60,000. Alexander thought about it, and then started to push a re-raise for an undisclosed amount into the middle, which got a quick muck from Urton.

Doug Lang
Doug Lang

When we saw players standing up and exclaiming their surprise we knew something exciting was happening at Table 370. On a board of {4-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} Yashar Darian and Douglas Lang were betting into each other and after a series of bets Lang was all in and called.

Cards were tabled and Lang held {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a queen high flush, which normally would be a great hand to have, but his opponent Darian had {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for the nut flush. There was nothing Lang could do as the irrelevant {5-Spades} hit on the river.

Lang was one of our huge chip leaders from the begining of today and maintained a very healthy stack until this hand. Lang will be leaving with $11,401 for his play today.

Blocksidge Making Up Ground

Michael Blocksidge has been very consistent this tournament and this hand was no different. We found Blocksidge putting out a bet of 16,000 on a {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} board. After some thinking the Cut-Off joined Blocksidge for a river.

After the {K-Spades} rattled off the deck Blocksidge took his time before pushing out a bet of 26,000 into the middle. His opponent folded and Blocksidge took down the pot.

Whoops...

A player under-the-gun raised it up preflop to 16,000. Alex Martin in late position re-raised to 37,500. After a bit of tanking, the under-the-gun player re-raised all in and got insta-called by Martin for his last 151,000 with {K-}{K-}. The under the gun player was obviously trying to make a move as he showed {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} to give Martin the double up. He is now at around 315,000.

Kwaysser Gets a K.O.

Livello 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We caught up with the action just as Valdemar Kwaysser's opponent was getting up out of his seat. Kwaysser tabled {A-}{K-} on a {K-}{7-}{3-}{Q-}{9-} board and his opponent, who was all-in, mucked.

Thanks to that hand, Kwaysser is now up to 300,000.
