Break it Down

Livello 14

We've played two levels of after-dinner poker, and the 60 surviving players are off for a short break. We'll be back in twenty minutes.

Cantu Put Out of His Misery

Livello 14

Stud 8/b

When we walked up to the table, Brandon Cantu was all in against both Marco Johnson and John Racener.

Cantu: (x-x) / {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{j-Spades} / (x)
Johnson: (x-x) / {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} / (x)
Racener: (x-x) / {7-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} / (x)

Johnson was leading the betting on fifth and sixth streets, and Racener was doing the calling. On seventh, both players checked.

"Pair of fives," Johnson announced, showing {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Racener couldn't beat it, and Cantu still had to sweat his final card. He slapped his down cards over, showing {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

"How did I f***ing miss that?!" Cantu yelled at the felt. He'll get half the pot for the low, but he's a bit peeved to not scoop it.

Cantu was left with about 5,000, and we saw him get eliminated just a moment later as we wrote this post.

Limongi Can't Beat Nuts

Livello 14

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Michele Limongi called a raise on the button from an opponent, his opponent drew one, and Limongi drew two. Limongi called a bet, and both players discarded one card on the second draw. Limongi called another bet.

Limongi's opponent patted, Limongi drew one, and mucked a {q-} face-up when his opponent bet. His opponent showed {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} (the nuts) and raked in the pot.

Katchalov Good All Day

Eugene Katchalov on Day 1

No-Limit Hold'em

Kyle Loman opened to 2,500, and Eugene Katchalov flatted next door to see a flop.

It came {10-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades}, and Loman continued out with another 2,700. Katchalov called, and he faced another bet of 5,700 on the {J-Diamonds} turn. He called again, and the river {10-Clubs} went check-check.

Loman didn't want to show his cards, and Katchlov knew that meant his {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} was good. It was, and it's good enough to push him up to about 70,000, now drawing close to the 78,000-chip stack of Loman next door.

Juanda Trending Up

Limit 2-7 Draw

Shawn Buchanan raised in the cutoff seat, John Juanda made it three bets on the button, Lamar Wilkinson cold-called in the big blind, and Buchanan made the call as well. All three players drew two cards, and the action checked to Juanda who bet. Only Buchanan called.

Buchanan thought for nearly half a minute before discarding one card. Juanda started to laugh.

"Take it back," he told him, playfully sliding the card back.

Juanda patted, Buchanan checked, and Juanda fired. Buchanan released, and Juanda raked in the pot.

Just a Bunch of Dudes

Livello 14

It happened a little while ago, but we forgot to mention it. The last lady left standing, Katie Baxter was eliminated with about 75 players left.

We're now in the men's club with 64 gentlemen remaining in the game.

No More Games

Livello 14
Noah Boeken and friends earlier today
Noah Boeken and friends earlier today

Just as soon as we write about Noah Boeken playing two games at once, we suddenly find him playing none.

No-Limit Hold'em

First in from the cutoff seat, Noah Boeken raised all in for just about 6,000. Jeet Shetty -- our favorite name of the day -- was in the big blind, and he called to put Boeken at risk.

Showdown
Boeken: {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts}
Shetty: {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {7-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, and Boeken has been eliminated. He slipped the cover over his iPad as he exited, and it looks like both of his games are done for the night.

Brown Triples

Stud 8/b

Opponent: ({x-}{x-}) / {2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds} / ({x-})
John Monnette: ({x-}{x-}) / {8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} / ({x-})
Andrew Brown: ({x-}{x-}) / {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades} / ({x-})
Monnette: Mucked - Nothing

A player with the {2-Clubs} up brought in, John Monnette completed, and Andrew Brown and the first player called. On fourth, fifth and sixth, the action checked to Brown who bet. He was all in on sixth for less than a big bet, and the player who brought in raised. Monnette called.

Monnette called another bet on seventh, and the hands were opened.

Opponent: {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} - Side Pot High
Brown: {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} - Main Pot High

Brown tripled, and is looking to make a comeback.

Multi-Tabling

Livello 14

We just noticed that Noah Boeken and Kyle Loman are both playing Chinese Poker on their iPads. They're at adjacent tables, and a closer inspection finds they're playing a game against each other.

Max Pescatori is on his iPad, too, but he's choosing to pass time with some sort of a missile-firing, tower-defending, button-mashing strategy game.
