Bad Beat for Baker

Amanda Baker
Amanda Baker

Jake Flores raised in middle position to 7,000 and Amanda Baker called from the big blind. On the {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop, Baker checked and Flores went all in for 75,500. Baker snap called and the players turned over their hands.

Baker: {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Flores: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Baker was solidly ahead with top-two against the overpair of Flores and the {Q-Hearts} on the turn kept it clean. However the {Q-Diamonds} on the river counterfeited Baker’s two pair and gave Flores a higher two pair and the double up while Baker took a massive hit.

Players Hitting the Brakes

Livello 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

While the first few levels of the day were filled with a flurry of constant eliminations, the field has now dipped below 90 players and it seems that play is starting to finally slow down.

With the blinds at 1,500/3,000/500 and the average stack at 107,182, many of the players are now deep stacked and have a little more maneuverability during the hands. The action over the next few levels should be exciting to watch!

Findlay Finishes One Off

The player in the cutoff raised all in for his last 32,000 and Alex Findlay called from the button.

Findlay: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Cutoff: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} gave Findlay a set of jacks but also gave his oppponent a gutshot straight draw. The {4-Clubs} on the turn and the {a-Diamonds} on the river weren't enough to help the all in player and he was sent to the rail.

Findlay had around 300,000 after the hand.

Lemarquand Gets Rusht-on

Michael Rushton raised to 8,000 in middle position and Erik Lemarquand, who recently won a pot off of Yueqi Wang, raised to what looked like 15,000 as the next to act. It was folded back around to Rushton who moved all in for 86,500 total and then buried his hood-covered head onto the rail of the table. Lemarquand made the call and Rushton lifted his head up as the players turned over their hands.

Rushton: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Lemarquand: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Rushton got up from his chair and began to pace around as the flop came a clean {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for him. The {8-Hearts} on the turn gave Lemarquand a flush draw but the river bricked out with the {K-Spades} and Rushton doubled up while Lemarquand gave back some of those chips who had won just before.

Cohen Induces a Call

With the board reading {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}, Justin Cohen bet 45,000 and got the other player in the hand to call. Cohen showed his {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for sixes full of fives and the other player mucked his hand.

Cohen now sits near the top of the chip counts with 300,000.

Heads up, Literally

Mitch Schock limped in middle position and Adam Cader raised to 8,500 in the hijack. The small blind three-bet to 19,500 and when it got back to Schock, he re-raised to 50,000 straight. Cader quickly folded but the small blind went into the tank. Some other players got up from the table to walk around as the small blind continued to ponder. Eventually, every single player at the table who wasn’t in the pot was up from their seats with the only people left at the table being the dealer, the small blind and Schock. The small blind eventually folded after several minutes and the players returned to their seats to play the next hand. The small blind was left with around 75,000 after the hand.
