Gonzalez Scooped by Sheikh

Omaha-8

From the hi-jack, Fabrizio Gonzalez opened with a raise to 400 and was called by three players to see a {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} flop fall.

[Removed:163] led for 200 from the small blind and was called by Ali Eslami before Gonzalez bumped it to 400. The player on the button folded as both Sheikh and Eslami made the call before the {J-Clubs} landed on the turn. Four bets were put in between Sheikh and Gonzalez as Eslami kicked his cards to the muck before the {3-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Sheikh bet out 400 and Gonzalez made the call only to muck at the sight of Sheikh's {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}{5-Clubs} as he moved to 37,000 while Gonzalez slipped to 23,000 in chips.

Velador Finally Folds on River

Livello 1

Omaha-8

From under the gun, Jose Luis Velador raised. Robert Williamson III three-bet from middle position and action folded back to Velador. He made the call and the two went to the flop.

The flop came down {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Velador checked. Williamson fired a bet and Velador called to see the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn. Velador checked-called another bet.

After the {Q-Clubs} hit the felt on the river, Velador checked. Williamson fired another bet and this time Velador tossed his hand into the muck.

Greenstein Razzing It Up

Livello 1

Razz

Our PokerNews field reporter stumbled across Barry Greenstein getting involved in a Razz hand. Greenstein raised a completion and called bets on fourth, fifth and sixth street before raising seventh with his opponent making the call.

Greenstein: (X)(X) / {A-}{Q-}{2-}{10-} / (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) / {7-}{4-}{6-}{J-} / (X)

Greenstein tabled his {6-}{5-}{3-} for a six-five low to take the pot and move to 36,000 in chips.

Buss Beaten

Livello 1

Razz

Jerry Buss: (X)(X) / {3-}{7-}{4-}{7-} / (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) / {8-Clubs}{6-}{7-}{5-} / (X)

We picked up the action on fourth street with Jerry Buss betting and his opponent calling. Buss also bet fifth street and his opponent called before he paired on sixth, which put action on his opponent first. The player checked, Buss bet and his opponent called. On seventh street, both players checked.

Buss's hand got mucked after his opponent showed {A-}{6-}{3-} for a seven-six low and the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers was out some chips.

Wheel for Amnon

Stud

Catching the action on fourth street, we found Tom Koral betting out 200 with both Amnon Filippi and David Oppenheim making the call. Filippi took the lead with a 400-chip bet on fifth as Oppenheim folded and Koral called.

Sixth brought about another bet from Filippi, but Koral chose to raise to 800 with Filippi making the call before check-calling 400 on seventh.

Koral: (X)(X) / {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} / (X)
Filippi: (X)(X) / {4-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Spades} / (X)
Oppenheim: (X)(X) / {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs} (folded on fifth)

Koral flipped over his {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for trips, but it would be Filippi's {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} in the hole that would see him scoop the pot with a wheel and move to a few thousand over his starting stack.

Choppity Chop Between Ho and Benyamine

Livello 1

Stud-8

Maria Ho: (X)(X) / {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} / (X)
Scott Bohlman: (X)(X) / {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} - fold
Stephen Su: (X)(X) / {4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} - fold
David Benyamine: (X)(X) / {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} / (X)

On fourth street, action checked around starting with Scott Bohlman all the way to Maria Ho. She bet and Bohlman folded. Stephen Su was next and folded before David Benyamine made the call.

Fifth and sixth street were both checked by Benyamine first before Ho bet. On sixth, Benyamine didn't just call, he check-raised. Ho made the call to see seventh. On seventh street, Benyamine bet and Ho called.

Benyamine showed the {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a heart flush and no low. Ho tabled the {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{K-Spades} for a low and the two chopped up the pot.

Rough Start for Young

World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Jason Young is off to a rough start in this one. He's been very active early on, but not much has been going his way. Even though it's early and the bets are still small, Young's stack has dwindled to 20,000 in chips. That's just two-thirds of what he started with.
