Cherish Takes Chunk out of Forrest

It was folded around to Ted Forrest in the cutoff who raised to 10,500 and was called by Cherish Andrews in the small blind. On the {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, Andrews check-raised a Forrest bet of 10,000 to 24,000 total and Forrest called. Andrews checked again when the {Q-Diamonds} hit the turn and Forrest checked behind. Andrews checked one last time on the {J-Hearts} river and Forrest fired a bet of 30,000. Andrews made the call and Forrest announced, “Fours” as he turned over {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Andrews revealed {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for tens up which was good win the pot.

Negreanu Slipping

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu hasn't been having the best level so far.

In a recent hand, a player in middle position opened for 9,500 and was called by Negreanu in the hi-jack and another player in the cutoff.

The flop came {5-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Hearts} and all three players checked. The turn brought a {4-Hearts} and the original raiser checked again, prompting a 20,000 bet from Negreanu. The player on the cutoff folded but the player in middle position re-raised enough to put Negreanu all in.

"Aww, why did I bet?" Negreanu lamented. Negreanu tanked for a bit and then folded. His opponent flipped over {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two-pair and a flush draw.

"Wow, you have me crushed," Negreanu said. "I had seven-six of clubs."

In the very next hand, Negreanu opened for 9,500 and was called by the button and big blind.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and the big blind checked. Negreanu c-bet for 18,000 and was called by the button. The big blind folded.

Both players checked the {10-Diamonds} turn, however, when the {2-Clubs} completed the board, Negreanu checked and his opponent pushed in 70,000 - much to the dismay of Negreanu.

"What in the world is going on?" Negreanu said. "Why so much? I was gonna insta..."

Negreanu began announcing potential hands his opponent could have.

"Ace-five of spades...?" Negreanu said. He then folded. "You had a straight."

In any case, Negreanu is down to 120,000.

Watching the Numbers Go Down

Livello 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

"It's kind of better not to know, because then you look over and see it's already down to 720…."

So said one player to another at one of the corner tables in the Purple section, noting how the board showing the number of players remaining is just a little too far away for them to see the figure without getting up from their chairs.

Many players -- especially the shorter-stacked ones -- are becoming increasingly aware of the approaching money bubble. Just 765 players remain. The top 693 finishers will make the cash.

Double Set-Up!

Livello 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

When we arrived at Table 352, Eddie Ochana had a bet in front of him, and the board read {2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Todd Holley moved all in, having Ochana covered, and Ochana called.

Ochana: {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Holley: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Ochana was drawing only to the {2-Spades}, and failed to hit the one-outer when the {9-Hearts} fell on the river. Ochana hit the rail, while Holley is up near 500,000 chips.

Jetten Cruising

With what looked like at least 200,000 in the pot on a {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} board, the small blind checked to Peter Jetten who said, “I have a really good hand but I check.” The small blind turned over {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a missed king-high flush draw and Jetten flipped up {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair and a lower six-high flush draw on the flop that became trips on the river. The pot was pushed to Jetten as the two began discussing the hand with Jetten wondering if his opponent would have gotten it in on the flop and saying he was fortunate that a heart didn’t come.

Hruby Climbing

David Sands opened the betting by making it 10,500 preflop. Action folded around to Martin Hruby in the big blind who made the call. The flop came down {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Hruby checked. Sands opted to check as well, and the two players saw the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Once again they both checked and the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river.

Hruby decided to lead out for 20,00 and Sands quickly made the call. Hruby tabled {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for kings and queens, causing Sands to shoot his cards into the muck. Hruby was able to scoop the pot and is now sitting close to 600,000 in chips.

Watts Suffers Power Cut

Steven Watts
Steven Watts

Steven Watts was all in on the flop of {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} with {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} but unfortunately for him, he was up against Yohan Zaoui's {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} which had him in trouble.

Drawing to six outs, the Brit was drawing dead on the {5-Diamonds} turn, the {J-Spades} river rubbing extra salt into the wound. The Frenchman had Watts just covered, knocking him out less than 100 spots from the money.

Bonkowski Chips Up

Over on table 292, the action folded around to Tyler Bonkowski who raised to 8,500 from the hijack position. The player on the button re-raised to 20,000, forcing the blinds out of the way, but Bonkowski called before both players elected to check down the flop of {J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

Bonkowski check-called the button's bet of 16,500 on the turn of the {A-Spades} and then both players checked down the river {2-Diamonds} before Bonkowski showed {A-}{Q-} for a pair of aces. That was enough to scoop the pot.
