Visseral Experience

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Dutchman Ruben Visser is up to 45,000 after he managed to double up with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} against {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. We only arrived to see the end of the hand but the board was reading {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} so in all honesty, the chips could've gone in at any point during the hand.

Woe is Wolak

After a flop of {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Marsha Wolak checked and her opponent bet 1,600. Wolak called and they saw the {5-Hearts} come on the turn. Wolak decided to take the lead this time and bet out 2,000 which the other player called. When the {9-Hearts} fell on the river Wolak checked and the other player bet 3,600. Wolak tossed her hand toward the muck and the other player scooped up the pot.

Wolak was down to 28,300 after the hand.

Gordon Off to Great Start

Phil Gordon opened to 1,500 from the hi-jack position and found one caller in the big blind.

The flop came {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and the big blind checked, prompting a 2,500 c-bet from Gordon. The big blind tanked and tossed in a raise. Gordon responded by re-raising and his opponent went all in. Gordon called (with slightly more) and saw that he was a slight favorite to win the large pot.

Gordon: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

The {A-Hearts} turn and {2-Hearts} river bricked for Gordon's opponent and he was sent to the rail.

"I was kind of hoping he hit," a fellow table-mate said. "It's nothing personal!"

The table enjoyed a slight laugh. Gordon is up to 90,000.

Woolley Extinct

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Bob Woolley was one of the feel-good stories of this Main Event, but he's not among those feeling good right now. Woolley was just eliminated in a pretty standard spot, but it's how he got here that's most notable.

Woolley, the "PokerGrump", was the lucky winner of Dan "jungleman12" Cates' freeroll Main Event raffle. That was the only favor Woolley would receive from the poker gods as his Day 1 table included Tom Schneider, Greg Raymer, Olivier Busquet, and David Chicotsky. Still, the Grump survived that table to bag up 8,325 chips.

Those were quickly lost this afternoon, though, as he open-shoved {A-} {3-} into the big blind's {6-} {6-}. A board full of blanks was all she wrote, and Woolley has been sent off early in the second day.

Gazes Loses Three-Way All In

We missed exactly how the action went down preflop, but got to the table in time to see the floor be called to count out the correct amount of chips to the winner. Bill Gazes held {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and called the all in of two players. The first all in was for 6,650 and that player was holding {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The next player that was all in held {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and moved all of his chips in for 11,625.

The board fell down {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs} and the shortest stack was able to triple up with his pair of jacks. Gazes' nines were also no good against his opponent's pocket tens and thus Gazes took a significant hit to his stack early, dropping down to about 27,000.

Alexander Down Early

Seinfield icon Jason Alexander and Michael Casella were heads-up to a flop of {Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts} when we arrived at table 275; both players elected to check their option, but then Alexander opened for 2,600 on the turn of the {3-Hearts}.

When the dealer peeled the {3-Clubs} off the deck for the river, Alexander checked and Casella fired out 6,000. Alexander called and though he tabled {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} for the treys full of jacks, Casella revealed {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for treys full of queens.

"I hate those, you can't get out of them," Alexander sighed.
