Le Doubles Through Roberts, Gives Some Back

Tommy Le recently doubled through Darrell Roberts, who finally found his way to his seat at the main feature table. The two got it all in on a ten-high flop, and Le's queens held against Robert's jacks.

In a hand not too long after, Le limped in from the small blind and Roberts checked his option. Both players knuckled after the dealer fanned {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, and Le led for 1,000 after the {2-Spades} turned. Roberts called.

The river was the {j-Hearts}, Le quickly fired 1,500, and Roberts raised to 4,500. Le tank-called. Roberts rolled over {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a flush, Le mucked, and Roberts took back some of his chips.

"You Took My Money and My Chips."

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

We found this hand at the river with a 12,000 pot. The board read {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {9-Hearts} {8-Clubs} and Theo Tran had a 10,000 bet in front of him and was looking straight down. He was in the hand against Nachman Berlin, aka the guy who Andre Akkari beat for his bracelet, and Berlin was tanking.

"I'll give you $50 to show me a bluff," Berlin said as he folded.

Tran turned over {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} as he dragged the pot.

"Ahh, you took my chips and my money. I'm so bad at poker. I was gonna call you with {A-} {J-} offsuit," Berlin said.

We didn't see see $50 fly across the table but we're sure Berlin is good for it.

Morgan Takes a Hit

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Jordan Morgan raised to 1,200 from middle position and was called from both the players on the button and the big blind. The flop fell {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and both players checked to the button who bet 1,700. The big blind folded while Morgan made the call. The turn brought {6-Clubs} and Morgan decided to lead out this time, firing out a bet of 2,200. The button called the bet and the river came {K-Clubs}. Both players checked and Morgan flipped up {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for a missed club draw and queen high.

The button player tabled {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and was able to scoop the pot with his pair of eights, knocking Morgan down to 68,350.

Vitaly Important Pot

After an initial raise to 1,300, Vitaly Lunkin made it 3,000 from late position and the big blind cold-called, as did the OR. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and the big blind led out for 7,000, the original raiser folded but Lunkin moved all in for 19,000. This show of strength was enough to get the big blind off his hand and the Russian moved back above his starting stack.

Phillips Doubles, with a Little Extra

From middle position, Zheng Tang raised to 1,100. Next to act was Boston Celtics captian Paul Pierce. Pierce made the call before play folded around to Dennis Phillips in the big blind. The three players saw the flop come down {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Phillips checked and Tang fired 2,200. Pierce made the call and Phillips also called.

The turn then paired the board with the {9-Spades}. It also brought in a possible flush draw. Phillips checked and Tang bet 6,000. Pierce quickly threw his hand away, but Phillips didn't go away so easily. He tanked for a bit and then made the call, leaving himself with under 15,000 in chips behind.

The river completed the board when the {7-Diamonds} landed and Phillips checked. Immediately, Tang tossed out 35,000 with seven T5,000 chips. That was more than enough to put Phillips all in. Phillips began to tank. He tanked for several long minutes, breaking down his own stack in the process. Phillips had 12,400 behind and was faced with a very important decision for his tournament life. He thought and thought, finally saying, "I'm sorry guys." The table insisted that he take his time and it's not a big deal. Then, he announced a call a few moments later.

Tang didn't turn his hand over, but Phillips did and he showed the {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for kings and nines with a queen. Tang mucked his hand, unable to beat that and Phillips slapped his hands together with a loud clap. He headed to the rail to get a congratulatory hug while the dealer broke down his stack to verify. This is where things got interesting.

The dealer broke down seven T1,000 yellow chips, three blue T500 chips, two stacks of ten black T100 chips and three stacks of 20 green T25 chips. There were then three more black T100 chips and four green T25 chips left over. By our Math, that equals 12,400, which was the amount Phillips broke his stack down to earlier when he was tanking. The dealer verified this amount as 13,900. How did this happen? The dealer pointed at each chip and announced the amount she was counting. She started with the two stacks of ten blacks chips, saying, "One, two," and then moved to the three stacks of 20 green chips. She continued, "Three, four, five," before going through all of the chips and finishing at 13,900.

Tang sent over three orange T5,000 chips and the dealer gave him 1,100 in change from Phillips' stack before play moved on to the next hand.

Chen Loses Some

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

First into the pot, Bill Chen raised to 1,300 from the hijack. The player in the big blind defended and the flop came {2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and this time Chen's opponent bet 2,300 which Chen called. The river was the {q-Diamonds} and both players checked it down.

"I have the nine," Chen announced. His opponent tabled {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a pair of tens and Chen falls to 14,600.

Vos Sliding

Mark Vos defended his big blind after the player in the cutoff raised.

The flop fell {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Vos check-called 1,400 to see the {Q-Clubs} turn. Vos led out 1,600, but saw his opponent pop it to 5,125. A call from Vos led to the {J-Diamonds} river which he checked. The cutoff bet 16,300 and Vos quickly called, but mucked when he saw his opponent table {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

Bilney Blasts Off

Sarah Bilney sought out our Aussie PokerNews reporter in the "True Blue" section to deliver some happy news for her supporters down under.

Having started the day with 85,000, she's now up to 135,000 after taking out an opponent who had moved in with {9-}{8-} (suited), but failed to improve against Bilney's {A-}{A-}. Fair dinkum!

Kamand Kicked Out

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Duane Wellnitz and Najid Kamand were heads up with the board reading {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Kamand check-called 5,500 from Wellnitz, then shoved for 19,400 after the {6-Spades} turned. Wellnitz tank-called.

Kamand: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Wellnitz: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The river was four-sided, but the {9-Spades} changed nothing, and Kamand was eliminated from the tournament.

"I folded six-four," Daniel Negreanu lamented after the hand. "Would've won a big one."

"Good fold then, Daniel," Wellnitz offered with a smile.
