Chen Cracks Aces

Livello 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We caught up with this hand on a board of {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Bill Chen threw out a bet and was check-raised by his opponent. Chen made the call.

The {4-Spades} came on the turn and Chen's opponent made another bet, which Chen called. When the {K-Clubs} fell on the river, his opponent checked and Chen thew out one last bet which his opponent called, flipping over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Chen's opponent was disheartened to learn that it was the second best hand, though, falling behind Chen's rivered straight with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Karina Chips Up

Livello 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Karina Jett: now there's something to write home about!
Karina Jett: now there's something to write home about!

Karina Jett is back up to around the starting stack of 4,500 after picking up a nice pot over on table three.

The action folded around to Jett who raised before the flop and found one caller in middle position; Jett led out after the flop of {8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{A-Diamonds}, the opponent raised and then Jett reraised. The opponent called, then flat-called Jett's bets both on the turn of the {K-Spades} and the river {K-Diamonds}.

Jett tabled {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for eights full and that was more than enough to take the pot down. If only if it were that easy for the rest of us!

Sweet Pot for Sweiss

Livello 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

California's Maurice "Sam S" Sweiss has taken a huge pot down on table 21 only moments before the first break to become one of the first players to move past 10,000 in chips.

On a board that read {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, Ryan Margetts checked his option from the big blind before the player under the gun opened. Sweiss raised and Charles Vargas called from the hijack position, as did Randy Dorfman from the button. Margetts check-called and the dealer produced the river {3-Hearts}.

Margetts checked, the UTG player bet, Sweiss raised and both Vargas and Dorfman folded before Margetts called. The UTG player threw his hand into the muck.

"Show me your ace-queen," Margetts sighed. Sweiss tabled his hand, but as it turned out it was {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for trip threes.

"Yahtzee!" Dorfman cried as Sweiss raked in the pot. Sweiss is now up to 11,500.

Jeff Madsen Runs Into Boat

Livello 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

We caught up with the action on a board of {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to see Madsen bet 150 from the button. Madsen's opponent raised and Madsen made the call. The {4-Diamonds} fell on the river and Madsen's opponent threw out another bet. Madsen made the call only to see the {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} of his opponent. As Madsen tossed his cards into the muck, he sighed and exclaimed "Nice turn."

Negreanu Continues to Chip Up Early

Livello 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

We got to the table in time to see Negreanu scoop a fair sized pot tabling {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for trip eights. The very next hand Negreanu raised from late position and got one caller. His opponent checked a board of {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Negraenu fired out a bet. His opponent called and then checked the turn of {2-Diamonds} to Negreanu who fired out another bet. This time his opponent folded and Negreanu swept up yet another pot.

The chips at Negreanu's table seem to be gravitating toward him early on in the first two levels of this tournament.
