Lee Lunges Forward

An early-position player opened for 1,300 and was called by Bernard Lee from the cutoff.

The flop came {J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and the original raiser c-bet for 1,300. Lee called.

An {A-Hearts} fell on the turn and the early-position player opted to check. Lee responded by betting 2,875 and his opponent called.

The {K-Diamonds} completed the board and Lee's opponent led out for about 4,700. Lee insta-called and his opponent showed {10-}{10-}. Lee tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for two-pair and scooped the pot.

Lee is currently up to 42,000.

Poker tournaments, especially the World Series of Poker, bring everybody out to the table: professionals, amateurs, stars of film and television. It also brings pro athletes out , and Paul Pierce isn't the only one in the building today. We've spotted a former American football player in our field today.

Eric Stocz was born in Ohio in 1974, and he was drafted as a tight end by the NFL's Detroit Lions in 1996. He played with them for three years before leaving the game and seeking out other interests to occupy his time. One of those interests, apparently, is poker. Stocz notched his first live cash in 2009, at a WSOP Circuit event no less. He was the runner up in a $345-buy-in event, earning four figures and consummating his poker career. Just a few months later, his second cash came with a first-place trophy as Stocz took down the Heartland Poker Tour event in Mount Pleasant for more than $115,000.

Stocz entered Day 2a with 29,100, which is less than what he began the tournament with, but he's moved up to about 50,000 in chips so far.

Moorman Making Moves

Chris Moorman just got moved to Table #286 in the blue section and he hasn't wasted any time in showing his tablemates that he means business.

Mickey Appleman raised to 1,125 from late position and was called by Moorman in the hijack, the button, and the big blind. The flop came {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and action checked over to Moorman who bet 3,200. Everyone else decided to fold and Moorman scooped up the pot.

On the next hand, Appleman again opened with a raise to 1,100 but Moorman, who was next to act, re-raised to 2,800. Action folded back around to Appleman who laid his hand down allowing Moorman to scoop his second pot in a row.

Song Open Mucks

It’s been an up and down day so far for Kevin Song but most recently, down. We caught up with the action four-handed on an {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop where it was checked to Song in the hijack who bet 2,700. Only the small blind stuck around and he check-raised to 5,700. Song methodically three-bet to 11,700 and his opponent tank called. Both players checked the {3-Clubs} on the turn and the small blind checked once more on the {10-Diamonds} river.

Song began to mumble something to himself before he finally threw out a bet of 11,000 after a little while. The small blind went into the tank again and leaned back in his chair. Eventually, he made the call and Song instantly mucked. The small blind turned over {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a missed flush draw that turned into a pair of tens at the end that were good to take down the

We've Heard it Before

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

"Yes! Come on!"

We know what Filippo Candio's celebrations sound like by now, and we snapped around to see him shoot out of his chair and take a little celebratory strut in between the tables with his lavender massage pillow in his arm. On the table, there was a board showing {7-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, and the gentleman in the two seat had pocket aces out in front of him on the felt. We're not sure when the money went in -- it was before the river from the sounds of it -- but Candio's {4-Clubs} {5-Hearts} ran down the straight to earn him the knockout and the near-double. He's back up to 70,000 now, just about where he began the day before an early slide.

Turnover by Pierce

We caught up with the action on the final board of {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} between Jonathan Zarin and Paul Pierce. Zarin had checked to Pierce and The Truth bet 5,000 After a minute, Zarin check-raised to 17,725. After a minute or so in the tank, Pierce made the call.

Pierce showed the {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for two pair, but it was no good against the {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} that Zarin held for a flush. Pierce sent over the chips and dropped to just over 50,000.

Positive Energy

Daniel Negreanu shakes Can Kim Hua's hand after busting him
Daniel Negreanu shakes Can Kim Hua's hand after busting him

Flop: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Can Kim Hua tossed out 3,000, another player called, and Daniel Negreanu moved all in, having both opponents covered. Hua called all in for around 20,000, the third player folded, and the hands were tabled.

Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Hua: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The ESPN crew scurried to the stage as Negreanu stood from his chair. "He has like seven-thousand outs," he shouted to the crowd.

The pro-Negreanu crowd was calling for cards and shouting words of encouragement to the Canadian pro.

"I can't do anything now," Negreanu smiled back at them.

The dealer finally rapped the table, and delivered the turn card. It was red, however the {3-Diamonds} was a brick.

"Three is good," Negreanu announced. "Jack would be better."

Hua was down to one last card, and the {4-Clubs} was no help. He stood from his chair to shake Negreanu's hand, as a chorus of cheers and claps rained down upon the main stage. Hua exited, and Negreanu sat back down, wiping his brow.

"There was too much positive energy for you there," tablemate Tommy Le added after the hand. "That poor guy was drawing dead."
