Duhamel Drops Back To Starting Stack

Jonathan Duhamel opened to 1,200 from the cutoff and was called by the button and the big blind.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and the big blind checked, prompting a 2,250 c-bet from Duhamel. The button folded but the big came along.

The big blind checked again on the {J-Clubs} turn and Duhamel fired again - this time for 3,850. The big again called.

The river came the {2-Clubs} and the big blind check-called for a third time following Duhamel's 4,500 bet.

Duhamel: {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Duhamel's opponent's kicker played and he scooped the pot - knocking our defending champion down to his original 30,000.

"You Play Those Cards?"

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Marcus Santos raised on the button for 1,250 and Soi Nguyen reraised to 4,250 from the small blind. The always dangerous Sammy Farha was in the big blind and gave his cards a good long stare before folding.

Santos moved all in and Nguyen called having Santos covered by a good bit. Santos turned over {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} and Nguyen paused, pointed and looked Santos, "You play those cards?'

There was an uncomfortable silence until Nguyen turned over {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. The board ran {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {7-Hearts} and the pair chopped the pot.

Mizzi Climbin'

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

With the flop reading {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, Sorel Mizzi shot out a bet of 4,300 and was called by the player in the hijack. The {A-Diamonds} turned and Mizzi continued with his aggression by tossing out 8,100. Once again, his opponent made the call.

Fifth street brought the {6-Spades} and Mizzi counted out a bet of 30,000 and pushed it into the middle. His opponent folded his hand and Mizzi was able to scoop the pot, bringing him up to 61,000.

Waxman Softens a Little

Over on table 296, the action folded around to Ohad Yannay who raised to 1,500 before the flop from the small blind; Matthew Waxman called from the big blind, thus making it heads-up to the flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Yannay led out for 2,400 and Waxman called, but then after Yannay fired out 3,800 on the turn of the {Q-Clubs}, Waxman let his hand go. As a result, he's down to less than 75,000.

Boucai Gets Off One Stop Before Valuetown

We missed the preflop action, but it looks like Lisa Hamilton raised under the gun before the flop, and she was heads-up with big blind Regis Boucai when we walked up. The flop was showing {4-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {5-Spades}, and Hamilton continued out with 2,100 more chips. Boucai check-raised to 5,000 straight, and Hamilton called to see the {4-Hearts} turn. Boucai fired another 7,000 at the pot, and Hamilton didn't waste much time calling. The {10-Spades} filled out the board, and now Boucai took a long pause before checking. Hamilton took her cue to bet 9,000, and Boucai tanked and surrendered his cards into the muck.

A Double For Danzer

With the board reading {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, we caught up with the action after one player called 7,700 from George Danzer. Another, though, shoved with the biggest stack of the bunch. Danzer called all in 22,600 more and after about three minutes, the third player in the hand folded, saying he was giving up pocket tens.

"If you have a flush, you're good," said the big stack while showing {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Danzer showed {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a flush, making the {9-Hearts} river card meaningless (except for the one who folded the set of tens).

A Kingly Battle

We saw the ESPN TV crew rushing over to Johnny Chan's table so we followed and found Chan all in holding the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} up against Shane Abbott's {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. The odds of two players being dealt the same pocket pair are around 135-to-1 but with flushes still possible Chan was still at risk.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} which did give Abbott outs to a runner runner flush, but the turn brought the {7-Hearts} securing a chop pot for the two players. After the meaningless {6-Clubs} fell on the river the pot was split up and Chan's stack was at around 26,000.

Everybody Loves Diamonds

Action opened when a middle position player raised to 1,250. Brad Garrett made the call from the hijack only to have the player on the button make it 2,800. The original raiser four-bet to 6,000 and Garrett once again made the call. The button opted to get out of the way and the two players were off to see a flop.

The flop fell {4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and both Garrett and his opponent checked. The {9-Diamonds} hit the turn and his opponent checked to Garrett who pushed out a bet of 9,000. His opponent shook his head and mucked his cards and Garrett took the pot down, bringing him up to 66,200 in chips.

Kellstrom Can't Beat Ace-King High

Livello 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

On the {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, Dana Kellstrom bet 1,600 and was called by his one opponent before the turn paired the board with the {Q-Hearts}. Kellstrom bet 2,200 on the turn and his opponent called again.

The river was the {10-Spades} and Kellstrom checked. His opponent also checked.

The player tabled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and Kellstrom mucked his hand, dropped back to 57,000 in chips.
